Agreed, but they essentially created a small dip for other people to buy up and we continue on our way. F them.

So what does it mean for us regular joes who buy, hold, etc… we get 1099’d now for taxable transactions? Good, because I can’t keep up with that shite. Can they figure out my cost basis while they’re at it?

This won’t really mean anything for casual adoption.

This is targeted at DeFi holding and staking.

If it becomes law and is enforced harshly how could it not be significant for adoption?

Because mainstream entities like coinbase etc are already tattling and giving 1099s. They want 1099s and kyc for shite like ledger and MetaMask which a lot of retail doesn’t understand or even know exist right now.

And if they enforce the 1099 requirement on miners, wallets, and developers the crypto industry leaves the US en masse

Fortunately I don't think this will ever make it to the finish line in 2023-24

I agree, from the little I know about it.

Making large exchanges report your earnings is kinda of a no-brainer from the government perspective, and they already harass companies like Coinbase to fork over user data.

The rest of it is basically unenforceable.

His amendment didn't pass so right now we have what Yellen/Treasury wanted which is very open to interpretation. It will be a court battle
