Doesn’t South American usually get the antiquated leftovers? Just saying. Might not be a long term bullish thing for that to be your first mainstream adopters. Could pave the way for ethereum to take over

The interesting thing about bitcoin is that it’s always had a kingdom upside down feel to it. The first adopters were nerds, magic the gathering types, drug dealers, degenerate gamblers, etc.

Is lightning network a success? Feels like it has been around forever, and its a pain in the arse to use.

ETA: Say I go into a coffee shop in El Salvador - who pays for opening/closing of lightning channels?

they've been setting up the infrastructure for years with bitcoin beach and yea most of the citizens do have cell phones.

the strike app is the most popular app in El Salvador, for example

not saying the transition is going to be smooth but it's been happening for awhile now

This is happening for the unbanked in Africa as well. The fees for maintaining a bank account in most African countries can reach up to 50% of the account balance. They're also very inconvenient. M-Pesa (Vodaphone payments via SMS) has been the standard for many years, but there's still a conversion to fiat that has to be made (for the cell phone business for example) when the vendors have to buy cell phones from suppliers to sell to individual customers. Many of the suppliers do accept Bitcoin as payment, so the vendors are staying native in Bitcoin. I haven't looked in about a year, but the Bitcoin adoption/usage in many countries in Africa was damn near a j-curve at one point.

My beef with Strike is that it is custodial.

use Phoenix app or breeze tech or bitcoinlw or inzap if you want non-custodial

lightning works... that's the overall point

Just realizing it’s 6/9 and there was no doge meme hype coming into today. Not a good look for a meme coin imo

Ha I was pretty much joking but I would love a good bump soon on that .33 cents if Elon could crank out a tweet or something.

he's really put himself into a precarious position as the defacto ceo of doge

Tesla seems to be breaking up from the inside so I'm sure his attention is elsewhere at the moment

Yea he definitely has!

Related: the Winn Dixie at Lake/Vets just installed a fancy looking area for charging Tesla’s.

Solid choice! I’ve got three different Ford trucks in my driveway, nothing electric yet. Got an 85 bronco that would prolly run on Popeye’s grease though.
