If I want to buy COIN, how would one do that? I have a brokerage account with vanguard. Would I just buy the second it opened?

You know these crypto nuts are going to drive up the price 200%+ before it drops back to a regular price

judge grants Ripple discovery of BTC and ETH as securities

interesting development. obviously bitcoin is not a security but I'm curious how they'll classify Ethereum

IPNFF (Imagine AR) is an interesting Canadian stock that is fairly new that that mainly deals with Augmented Reality (think of more advanced Pokemon-go) type stuff where you can walk around with your phone and place Flying Dragons and other stuff around. This may not be the right thread to talk about stocks, but since COIN was mentioned, this was one I found interesting.

They are partnered with the NBA and also involved in NFT's although that is not their main focus. I don't have a tremendous amount of shares in the company but they are a company that I believe can having a lot of growth and seem to already be on the right path. As always do you own DD if you are interested.

I mean this isn’t the standard hypergrowth IPO story in that Coinbase is coming to market with $3B in annualized NI. It will be interesting to see where the valuation ends up but it’s funny that people scoffed at the $100B projected and now that likely turned out to be quite short.

SNOW came to market at 100x sales as a crude example. I’d jump at the chance to buy COIN at 33x earnings. PYPL is trading at 70+ and SQ barely turns a profit at its 100+ cap.

That said, the price obviously matters and that is still an unknown.

An interesting note fro the hearing today would also be that the SEC lawyer also noted that the SEC has not formally declared Bitcoin and Ethereum nonsecurities. They said in court today that the opinion was from a single commissioner in a speech and wasn’t the official standing of the SEC.

yeah, good catch. btc should be fine because satoshi didnt take any disproportionate profits

going off that as a basis, eth is most likely fine too. the company that wrote the eth software dissolved at block #1, and the ICO investment was diluted over time.

xrp didnt do this, you can only buy the token from brad

so, depending on the ruling, this potentially places 99% of other crytpo projects in the "securities" category because they share a similar issuance mechanism as xrp

Vitalik openly said in a speech that he was selling 1000-2000 Eth for one Bitcoin as “fundraising” though. That is 100% the definition of a security.

I mean, Jesus. This entire system seems like a wicked house of cards.

Fed prints money directly and prints it to buy treasury bonds that nobody wants because the interest rate sucks, and this keeps interest rates down while raining down more helicopter money.

You’d have to be blind not to see how utterly unsustainable this is.

And yet money managers in charge of billions buy 30 yr treasuries at sub 3% for the past decade plus.

I know this sounds crazy, but traditional inflation is actually very difficult to get going in a controlled manner.
