I like reading the naysayers though, because it gives a chance to reinforce the counter-arguments. Reading responses to slackster that address the negatives, etc helps reinforce my confidence.
You’ve still got the Dave Ramsey’s of the world and a lot of traditional sources advising against it, and most people are not currently invested
As crazy as it is, the market cap of BTC and ETH is still only a fraction of what it will become

I'm looking for XLM to blow the top off soon. The chart is looking so ripe.

guys like slackster are traditional type financial advisors who lack any innovative investment acumen and have been advising their clients to stay away from bitcoin despite the fact its averaged over 400% per year since 2015
because of these poor decisions, they have a stake in the game to hope it fails for a variety of reasons.
we can make guaranteed investments in crypto/stablecoins to earn 10-12% per year, right now. these financial advisors can not compete with that and what lies ahead

For most people that are used to traditional investing the math and shear computing power alone is hard for them to wrap their heads around. Factor in something that is not controlled or supported by any government and a finite supply and you have something that is almost impossoble for most people to understand without tons of research snd realigning the way they think.
People like slacker are a dying bread.

Anyone still have IOTA? I've been bag holding since the 2017 crash and it's finally starting to wake up. If chrysalis, firefly, and coordicide ever comes to fruition, IOTA will finally BOOM!
Long time IOTA guy here. Still holding, will continue to hold. Like a lot of these projects that promise the world, I consider it a long shot. The difference is that IOTA has expressed a path forward that can actually achieve it's mission statement, unlike most of the top 100 coins out there.
Another unicorn that's actually outside of the top 100 right now is Secret Network (SCRT). Like IOTA, they have a viable path forward to achieving a critically important function: Transaction privacy and front-runner resistant DeFi. They are part of the Cosmos ecosystem, but operate their own chain with SNIP-20 tokens that encrypt transaction inputs in a TEE, allowing their tokens to achieve customizeable privacy. Having encrypted mempools also allows them to deter frontrunning bots that use DeFi network mempools to arbitrage user transactions by manipulating GAS prices (looking at you, ETH).
Lots of "good" DeFi options out there right now, but SCRT is one of 3 that actually have a novel approach IMO.

I know very little about buying crypto, so I have 2 questions
1. What’s a good site to buy crypto thru?
2. How do you store the coins you buy online or something else?

1. coinbase is pretty noob friendly and it will give you free crypto for signing up and watching videos.
coinbase pro has better fees if you're into trading
others are kracken. Gemini. kucoin. cash app. binance.us (not available for Louisiana)

I usually point US residents to Coinbase.com and tell them to spend some time reading and watching before they make any serious purchases. If you have traded with other online services like Etrade etc, then you should check out Coinbase Pro (the fees are significantly lower).
There are a number of ways to store coins and tokens. I would look into and understand how hardware wallets work, and make sure the coins you want are compatible with the wallet you want to use. The two biggest out there are the Ledger and the Trezor. I am a fan of the Trezor, but it's been made clear that a Trezor can more easily be "cracked" by an attacker with physical possession of your device if you don't have as "password" enabled during your device setup. I can point you towards more information about both of these wallet if you'd like.
With a service like Coinbase, you are likely safe to leave assets on the platform if you want to actively trade. I always encourage people to learn how to manage their own coins and take them off of exchanges, but many people either have a relatively small amount of coins or are unwilling to "learn the ropes" of having direct control over their assets. It really comes down to your commitment level IMO.

Trezor Wallet: Trezor Wallet
Details of the Trezor wallet hack: Hackaday--Trezor Wallet Hack
ETA: I personally like the Trezor, but I am also comfortable with Password creation and management, which mitigates the risk of a physical attack on a Trezor wallet. If you are "in the game" long enough, you will probably have quite a few different means of protecting your assets, and possibly own both wallets anyway. Read read read read read. Then read some more.

lsu77 seems pretty thorough and would create a good OP imo

Good idea. It would be nice if there was a "Crypto Talk" board that could combine the tech and money aspect of the topic, instead of having both in different boards. I dunno.

Thank you LSUtoOmaha and DBF for introducing Ethereum to the board and for your research.
1) It's a crypto/digital currency like Bitcoin
2) It's trading at about $80 per unit right now
