Ok, so this type comment throws off my thinking and shows myself how little I know about crypto. I thought that you owned a percentage of a Bitcoin, amd with the fluctuating prices of a coin, your $$ fluctuated with it.
For instance, I’d I owned .5 of a Bitcoin, no matter what happened with the pricing, I still owned .5 of a Bitcoin at the end of the day.
Is that not true?

He saying that all coins can be either valued in USD or BTC. Price of your alt coin may go up in $USD buy may in fact decrease in Sat value. So let’s say I bough $200 worth of Chainlink at $10 when BTC was at $8k . Although my Link tokens have increased in usd value looking at the trade I would have been better just buying Bitcoin .

This is what I meant. When I check my overall portfolio, at its peak I had ?.03 BTC, including BTC and everything else.
Now, even tho my portfolio as a whole has gone up in value, I have less than ?.03 BTC. Like CE said, had I spent all of that on strictly BTC, I would have ?.03 BTC and it would be worth even more.

Meh, I have so little now since I continued to turn BTC into other alts.... LINK and DASH worked out but ECA, XLM, XRP did not
