Someone new to investing should put most of their money in VOO or another version of s&p500. Maybe $4k out of $5k. Nvda could be a good choice for the other $1k.

Agreed.

First have a diversified base through broad based index funds. Then sprinkle in individual stocks if you get the itch.

I will say outside of a few stocks purchases I would’ve been way better off sticking exclusively to index etfs.

If most professionals can’t be the S&P 500 what are the odds you can?
