I'm creating 1099's for contract labor I paid through my business.

What I'm having trouble with is how to get this info to the IRS.

I've looked through their website, which reads like VCR instructions, and see a new F.I.R.E. system which I have no clue how to set up to get started.(I have my TIN but not a TCC)

Nonetheless, what is the easiest way to report this info to the IRS? Where is the upload document button?

Is there not a way to fill in a 1099 and hit submit? What am I missing?

i'd suggest a service like Intuit online payroll or through Quickbooks or something like that

In my experience the fees are worth it

Office Depot has a site where you can enter in the information and they will print and mail the 1099s to the recipients and IRS for you. Doesn't get any easier than that.

Thank you. It's two 1099"s.

That's why I was trying to do it myself, as opposed to hiring someone to do it for me.

The cheapest way is to get the forms 1099 and transmittal form 1096 and send them in. Depending on what state you are in, you may need to send a copy to the state.

There are also a number of websites out there where you can sign up for an account, fill out the info, pay a fee, and they will file them for you.

ask your cpa to do it for you. mine charges a minimal amount and if you are using quickbooks and marked everything right you can generate the 1099 report that will output all of the people that should receive.

This. Office Max/ Depot is like $4.95 each and that includes mailing them to the recipient and submitting them online. Unless you use Quickbooks and have them do it, its the easiest I've found and works well. Also saves it for next year.

I use Tax1099.com for the few bookkeeping clients who need to send 1099s.
