I know you were pretty down for a while. I'm glad you didn't quit on this stock. I know a lot of folks kept saying, "know what you own". The market doesn't always go the way it should, but over time, it cant ignore the fundamentals. Eventually, the price will catch up to the value.

Fair point. I was really asking what other equities you all liked and was trying to give an idea of how much I was looking to invest. If I had $1000 only the advice may have been different than if I had $100k to invest.

same, 300 shares, $65 average. 200 at $53 and 100 at $89

I think the fact that it is only 5% of your portfolio is as important. If you are on a NBIS thread and have 5% to spend, I would say NBIS is a good addition, given you only have 30 shares. Thirty shares on a portfolio the size of yours seems like you're just watching it.
Having said that, this has been very volatile, with 50% swings, as you may know. It hit $140 in October and then went down to $70. It's on a serious upswing now - two weeks ago, it was at $92/share, and now its pushing $160.
I think the general market is recognizing what a lot of us have known for a while, which is that Nebius is not the biggest neocloud, but they have the best all around package of hardware, software, and services. They are positioned to bring the enterprise market into the AI world.
In the long run, this will be huge, IMO, but would it surprise me if this is trading at $125 next week? No.

This is definitely helpful. Thank you.
I do have a small stake. For a long time, my trading account had no more than $100k in it and I chose what stocks I wanted to hold. I also held my "rainy day" fund in that account, but I did not trade with that money. I simply invested it in TMCXX and left it alone. The trading account held about $100k in equities but I got tired of the ups and downs and finally turned that over to my FA and told him to invest it where he saw fit. My performance over the years was not terrible, but it wasn't great. I may have just done better going with SPYM or VOO. I do like picking my own stocks, but I dedicate very little of my net worth to it. Financial advisors manage the rest of my money.
So yes, I have a very small stake in NBIS but I think I'm going to dip in a little further thanks to this thread. $246,000 is a lot of cash and I'm having a hard time fathoming any sort of rainy day that would require such a haul; hence, I'll take some out and try my hand in a few equities.
This one has been a winner for me thanks to you all. My 30 shares are held at an average price of $71.56 so I'm up about ~$2500 or ~116% in a very short while.

Someone mentioned rainy day events in another thread discussing individual stocks.
For me, it typically takes about 2 days to go from owning a stock to having it liquid enough to spend.
Car needs a $9000 repair? Put it on a credit card, sell some stock, pay off the credit card.
That said, I like to have plenty in my checking account too, but I guess I haven't thought that I couldn't invest it for any particular reason. So, maybe my brain works exactly the same and I haven't verbalized it.
Am I talking to myself? Again?

I would sell puts at $140 strike a month or two out. You’ll receive around $1,000 in premium on the 15 May contracts.
If the stock doesn’t drop to $140 by May 15th, then you keep all premiums paid to you.
If it’s at $120 by May 15th then you’ll be buying shares at $140, but will also keep the premiums received.
Either way, It beats buying at $160

This is a good suggestion. Much thanks!

Yes, you could do that but this is why I keep my rainy day funds separate from my trading account (even though their held within the same ML account). I'd hate to have to pay a s-t capital gain tax on an equity sale because I was too illiquid to pay for a car repair. To each their own, but this is how I think.

Not at all.
I think it's an old school mentality to have a lot of liquidity for emergency purposes. I keep a credit line at my credit union for that purpose. I occasionally test it out to see if it's still working by borrowing money against it for a month or two and then repaying it.
I worry about needing money at a time when the market, or my stocks are down or on the verge of spiking and I don't want to sell anything. At the same time, I don't want to have too much money sitting on the sidelines in an interest bearing account for no reason. The credit line gives me peace of mind.
I feel like I have probably increased the money I would have in a "rainy day" fund by many multiples, as a result.

I like all of mine currently.
They are either major disrupters or value bargains, hopefully without being value traps:

LEU

Yeah, hate to derail the how to keep enough liquidity to afford metimucil discussion, but this thing is on a ride.
I’m long but is this in anticipation of an earning report that finally puts it all together, or did something else happen I missed?

Yes. NBIS is in high level discussions to acquire a new LLM called AI21. The thought is that this ends the comparison with CRWV and puts them into the comparison discussion with AWS. AI21 is supposed to be tuned to be ideal for enterprise development.

In another angle on this, the company headquarters is in a hangar adjacent to the LA airport, and they plan to move it to an undisclosed location and rename it EX-LAX.
