They only give u like 20 options to choose from. Wish it could be individual stocks like a company in the oil/gas market, or amazon or Meta or whatever. Got shiit in their i never heard of.

They’re protecting you from yourself.

I'm sure mine isn't much better. I have only one of each: large, mid, small cap, international, emerging markets; 2 bond and 2 stable value, and a bunch of crappy target date funds.
The good thing is that I put in 6% with a full match plus we have an auto 6% from the company, so I get a total of 18%.

I’ve got 5 options. Bonds, international, S&P 500, Russell 2000, and company stock.

Which investment company, if you don’t mind me asking? Lower expense offerings? ETFs or mutual funds?

Have you dug into what the funds are holding. My company switched over to Vanguard a couple years ago and thought the same, but they had a fund that was loaded with tech. Obviously has been a nice performer, over the last two years.

I have a big chunk of mine in Fidelity Growth Company which is mostly tech. I think tech will outpace the S&P for the foreseeable future, but you'll have years like 2022 where you really take it on the chin if you are overexposed

We have about 10 if you take out the target date options, which are just compilations of those 10.

You can move your money anywhere you like. No need to keep money with them if you don’t like their options.
I transfer out money once per year from the work account to the one I trust.

That’s not true with most plans outside of specific exceptions.

You may very well be right. I work for a very small company and I was able to handle my account in this way.
My apologies for the confusion.

Inquire if a “brokerage account” is available. This will allow you to trade individual stocks within your 401k.
