What do you do to save money? Myself:

1) I recently paid off my 2000 Tahoe. I am dropping collision and going to liability only.

2) Setback thermostat in my house. 55 degrees at night.

3) No phone at home.

4) No internet at home. I use my aircard (which I need anyway) and and liberal use of free internet at work.

5) The cheapest cable that gets me ESPN.

ETA:

6) I buy 1 liter Aquafina's and refill them until the bottle goes to shite.

What you got.

Don't use it much in the summer. My AC has a hard time cooling my house if I let it get too warm.

I started spending less money once I started setting a real budget every month. Its easy if you use Mint.com. Also, use cash. Its been proven that you will spend less money if you use cash than if you use plastic (even debit).

I can see that, but it is nice to have a landline.

To hell with that.

My main way to save money every day is to follow Mrs. TigerDeacon around turning off televisions and lights.

I got home one day and she was there by herself with THREE TVs on, one of which was the plasma which was on pause.

Utilize the slow cooker to cook in bulk.

I make chili with 4 lbs of meat every few weeks and that's my entire food budget for the week. Costs about 20 bucks to make it.

I have been quading up on my house payments and will have it paid off in June, will then save up quickly to upgrade my vehicle.

Have never had collision, although I have 25-50-25 to be safer against a lawsuit, and it is a cheap upgrade.

Considered going cell phone only but wanted land line. Got Magic Jack ($100/5years) as a compromise. It is great as a backup, would not want it as a primary phone.

Also have a water bottle that I fill from filtered chilled water dispenser and stick it right back in the fridge. Water taste fine and is always cold. This also cuts down on dirty dishes.

Always drink water at restaurants. Rarely buy alcohol at bars/restaurants where there is a 200% markup over albertsons.

Having a few friends that know how to copy DVD's and sharing netflix account is also helpful.

I do this too, it saves a lot if you eat out regularly.

I take my lunch to work 4 days a week (on Fridays some of us go out as a group). Make my own coffee instead of stopping at Starbucks, etc. Iron most of my shirts and pants instead of using a laundry. Save cash to buy a car instead of financing. Limit my gambling to the stock market and some small office pools. Give my wife handmade cards for birthday, anniversary, and mother’s day. She likes them better then the professional ones you buy at the store. And, I ‘m lucky in that my wife is tighter than I am.

1. Eat at parents house whenever possibly, bring leftovers home.
2. Never leave tips, unless I am on a date.
3. Schedule the cinemas so that when one ends you can walk into the other just before it starts (two, sometimes three for price of one).
4. Sister's credit card is good for one fillup per month undetected.
5. Foil in the windows saves enough electricity to pay for the entire roll even though you only need half a roll.
6. In winter, don't drain bath water until it cools
7. File taxes separately so wife gets earned income credit and WIC
8. Free pins, notepads, staplers and blank CDs/DVSs from work (grab stuff from coworkers desks whenever possible so frequent trips to supply cabinet doesn't get suspicious).
9. Make your own detergent from soap, washing soda and borax
10. Hunting deer and rabbits (easier at night)

You forgot to take shitter paper from work; towels from hotels, and eating utensils from the restaurant.

Me too, but I'm pretty sure he was joking. I was about to start ripping into him, but I figure if they are all true, then he's going to hell any way.

Remember to clean out the condiments on the table when you are at a restaurant. You will never have to pay for sugar, sweet'nlow, ketchup, salt or pepper ever again.

Fresh cut flowers are always available at the cemetary.

In winter, after cooking in the over, open the oven door so everyone can share the warmth.
