Are you pretty comfortable financially? If your risk of defaulting is very low, you could consider borrowing against your investments. Most brokerages allow you to borrow using your investments as collateral. A $50k loan for one with several million in assets doesn't seem risky. This leaves your assets invested and can get you an attractive interest rate.

I do have that option, rate is 9.25% right now though. September was rough, but I am close to passing the threshold again that can drop that rate to 8%.
It looks like HELOCs are 8%+, so that might be a better route. Those rates are just rough. Mortgage is 3% and just got a used car at 6%.

You’re wayyyy off baw, we spent about 50k on a kitchen and we kept the cabinets and just painted them.
I’ll offer a different solution, sell house and take your $600k in equity and put towards an updated home that your wife likes. Hell of a lot less stressful than that $150k+ remodel.

The outdoor work might as well be lighting the money on fire. You won’t get that back on future resale.
The kitchen will pay out the most along with the hardwoods. Start with that.

Just wrapping up a whole home remodel, I did all the work myself besides Sheetrock. I’m in about 50k now, but I bought all my appliances/sinks/toilets/ect from Facebook market place, got a killer deal on my cabinets. I hope y’all are okay with living in a remodel, it is not fun by any means (can’t stress this enough). Pick up the tools & get on YouTube, you can figure it out.

Sell crack. Well if that’s still a thing.

You can do this yourself for like 1000 bucks
