A rental tenant put a money order in my mailbox but I never got it.
Maybe the mailman picked it up but we don't know. I guess it could have been squished into some new junk mail magazine that I threw away.

It was in an envelope with her name, street address and apartment number on it. No city. She put all copies of the money order in the envelope. The money order was made out to my business name.

My regular mailman was on vacation at the time.
Have you ever tried to contact someone at the post office? OMG.
I did file a claim with USPS.

It's been over two weeks now and I don't know what else to do.

I sympathize with you. It sounds like you're not experiencing very much joie de vivre right now.

I had the same thing with a tenant.

She had the receipt and applied for a replacement. Western Union was able to verify the original one had not been cashed and cancelled it.

The replacement was supposed to take 7-10 day. and it took much longer.

Yeah I'm calling BS. If she had a copy of the receipt and had to get a new one, I'd certainly waive the late fee and be lenient.

But the entire reason to hold the receipt, is for reasons like this.

Let me guess, she paid for it in cash? I'd ask her to show proof the funds were made from her bank or CC statement.

ETA: sorry to be so crass but it just sounds like a crappy excuse to me.

Yeah if they didn't keep a copy of it or some kind of proof, that's on them. Good luck.

Not your responsibility. She's the one that bought the money order, she will need to get it canceled and a new one issued, or pay you an additional rent.

Any tenant that "leaves" the rent somewhere takes that risk on themselves.
