Lumber is on a tear making All time highs

Wondering if There is an etf to either capitalize on it or have it drop based on My self important belief that when I buy some thing it goes down and I can finally build that guest house

I got in NAIL last May and it's kicking arse. It's leveraged but it's pretty much been on the uptick since then..

When everybody is already talking about it you probably missed the boat.

I been thinking that for 6 months but lumber makes new highs daily.

As I see it, either way, I win. If so buy it, it could go down and that means lumber is dropping so I will be able to build my guest house. If it goes up, I make money and maybe enough to afford the exhorbitant cost of this guest house

That’d be fine with me. I can’t take the word of the wizard who posts on tiger droppings though.

Checking out an ETF called CUT but it is a diverse play. I want pure lumber.
I already own DR Horton and Weyerhaeuser

Try not to be a smart arse about it.

CME Futures

Educate yourself.

November futures imply a 30%+ drop from spot prices.

Not sure. What do you as a TigerDroppings wizard know that the lumber futures market doesn’t?

Are those prices that show for the future months a guarantee of the price in those months?
If not, what do they actually represent?

No, except for those that actually purchase the futures contracts for delivery.

They represent the market’s best guess on the future price at that date. It’s no different than thinking natural gas will go up in the winter and then finding out that the futures already expect that. You won’t make money unless they go up more than already expected.

It might be because you start looking into getting into stocks when they’re at their all time highs

I wonder if there's a counter ETF that shorts it.

Exactly

That’s why I asked you what the market thought the price would back in September 2020 for May 2021 .
