Looking for info on FIN 701 with Choi as well. Also ECON 705 With Shaughnessy? Any info is appreciated

Shaughnessy is the gold standard for instructors for this program.
I'm going with Choi for FIN as well. I don't remember the details, but I know he was indicated as actually being very good. Vines is also consistently well spoken of on the boards, and he appears to teach it more often so there is more feedback on Vines.
Anyone have feedback on Huang for Acct? Ambrosio is AP 1 only, and if I take ACCT in AP1, I will have to take Williams for MADM 701 in AP2. Currently going with Heller for MADM 701 in AP1.

I'm really hoping they add more sections/teachers for these core classes. Im altering my schedule just to get Heller over Williams due to the feedback.
I am also going with Choi in FIN so lets say a prayer.

@GeauxUF.. how did your MADM701 with F Williams go? please let me know some details on structure of the course and amount of time spent on this.
I will be doubling up with FIN720 in AP2.
If MADM701 with F.Williams is heavy will do in Spring AP1 with Heller
F Williams' MADM 701 was the third-highest workload of the 10 courses I've been in (behind James' MKT 701 and Meeks' MADM 760). Roughly 1700 words per week of writing (weekly writing assignment and weekly discussion assignment), 70 pages of reading, and a fifty question test each week. No final project. Williams hires "coaches" to grade work and their grading is somewhat inconsistent. I paired it with Vines' FIN 701.

I can tell you about the alternatives:
Vines for FIN 701 is one of my favorite instructors in the program. Highly recommended. I haven't heard much about Choi.
White for ECON 705 does not allow the use of Excel on exams and requires every formula to be completely memorized, so it is recommended to steer clear her of in favor of Shaughnessy.

Is Choi doing a finance class for Spring AP1?
I dont see it coming up.
Maybe its already filled up?
EDIT: he is only teaching it for AP2.

Currently taking Shaughnessy--his lectures are worthwhile and the class is not too difficult. Quizzes, self-assignment, and assignment each week are all open book and appear to make up the whole course. I would definitely recommend his course.

Meeks finished grading for the first group assignment. That didn't take long! My team pulled out full points. It sounds like quite a few groups are having trouble using Zoom?

Lots of comments on this forum suggesting to take Darrat over James for marketing. MKT 701 is offered by both Aadel Darrat and Mohamad Darrat in spring 2019. Does anyone have insight on which professor has previously taught the course and/or how they compare? Thanks in advance

There are some TERRIBLE things about Darrats mktg class on here.
James may be the lesser of 2 evils from what i can gather.
I think they are talking about the Mohammed version.

Has anyone taken Mohamad Darrat for both MKT 701 and ISDS 710? Is there any overlap between the classes?
Posted on 11/5/18 at 7:40 am to LSUSmn2018
Aadel Darrat currently teaches it on a regular basis. Mohammad Darrat teaches ISDS 710 so I wouldn't advise him, as it's a complete unknown. A Darrat doesn't have a particularly difficult class, but I can't say I highly recommend it. There's a lot of writing, but it doesn't feel directly tied to the material and it is mostly concentrated in the middle weeks. The class itself is very poorly paced, so expect weeks 3, 4, and 5 to be at least 2-3 times the work of the other weeks. When I took it, there were 2 discussion forums and one reply also every week, 1 discussion forum and reply on weeks 3, 4, and 5 where you will also have case analyses due. Tests on weeks 3, 5, and 7 on a relatively large amount of material.
I did well in the class. I believe I made a good choice only because the alternatives actually appear to be worse(ie James). From what I've read in these forums, there does not appear to be a "good" choice for MKT 701. Don't hope to get the cream of the crop, the best you can hope for is the cream of the crap.
A few small adjustments would greatly improve the class. No discussion forums on weeks with case analyses. No tests on weeks with case analyses. Discussion forums tied to the actual material of the week. Maybe you'll be lucky and he's changed it up.

Starting THIS current session, ISDS 710 is no longer a marketing class disguised as an Analytics class.
It is now a free online R programming course disguised as an university Data Analytics class. Ironically, this is actually a big upgrade. Major companies don't seem to use R much (every company I've ever heard of uses SAS officially), but some hardcore analysts actually do (I checked with a few real analysts today and many of them seem to use it, even when they have access to SAS).

We did a test run prior and our leader for the week sent us all a copy prior to posting it. This seems to have helped us make sure we followed his guidelines.
Like what was said before, hes great professor and lenient grader. We just have to put in the work and think critically.

Consensus on Heller for MADM 760? I searched in the thread and could not find anything definitive. Better to try and hold out for Meeks?

Good morning,
Trying to plan out Spring. I am in my first class of the program: HCAD750 with Gherfal.
I don't see anything with Gibbs or Lin in AP2.
Currently, I am looking for guidance with the following,
AP1
ECON 705 with Shaughnessy
FIN 701 with Vines
ISDS 702 with Koksal
ISDS 705 with Lin
AP2
FIN 701 with Choi
I work full-time and have a family; so, I think one class might be my pace.
Many thank yous in advance for direction on order of classes and teacher.

Full time with a family here also.
ISDS 705 seemed like I took a semester off however I have
Do you have a Business background, stats, etc? If so ECON (SHAUG)/FNAN (VINES) are not to bad. If you want to start off slow then 705. I dropped 702 because I could not dedicate the time I needed to it.
