Tomorrow is Lin's first ISDS 705 exam of the term. I'm extremely nervous. Thoughts? Advice?

The Organizational Characteristics article was information overload.

@baroqen

I hear you. :-)

I only have hope to go on at this point.

For those of you asking about Choi for FIN 701. I took him in AP1 and got an easy high A. I received 100s on every discussion (1 per week & 1 response per week) and 100s on the 2 case studies (very easy to do). There were 3 tests which were almost exactly the study questions that he provides. I pretty much just studied those study questions and ended up getting A's on every test. I would highly suggest taking his class.

buso12--

Thanks for the info. I have Choi for FIN 701 2nd term of Spring.

So, who all is heeding to GeauxUF's advice and taking ISDS 702 with Koskal? I'm there :)

UtahBayouBelle,

I am registered for that class (ISDS 702 with Koksal) and ISDS 705 with Lin for AP1. See you there!

I have FIN 701 with Choi for AP2.

GeauxUF:

Ok, you recommend taking ISDS 702 with Koksal and ISDS 705 with Lin together. I'm fearful of two classes; but, I also don't want to waste time...ie, one class so easy I could have taken two.

Thank you!

There is really no way around it: in its current state, MKT 701 is hands down the most time-consuming, work-intensive course in the program. You will spend 40 hours a week minimum on this course, regardless of instructor. Do not pair it with another course if you have a work and family life. If you absolutely need to pair it with another course, pair it with Lin's ISDS 705, or quit your job for 7 weeks and pair it with ACCT 701 or maybe ISDS 702 (that's not a joke, it's what I did). Do not take it over a period of time where you will need to take vacation time since there is no break.

Thank you for that insight. I really need to keep a notebook on all the class recommendations. I wish you could drill down on this board by class. :-)

Full time with a family here also. ISDS 705 seemed like I took a semester off however I have Do you have a Business background, stats, etc? If so ECON (SHAUG)/FNAN (VINES) are not to bad. If you want to start off slow then 705. I dropped 702 because I could not dedicate the time I needed to it.

SATNIGHTS, I've also not been in school for nearly 20 years. And this is my first online class. I am a controller for an insurance trust. So, accounting is my wheelhouse.

Who did you have for ISDS705? I signed up for in this current term but dropped it after opening a 35 page group project manual...I just couldn't.

If it felt like you took the semester off, do you wish you would have paired it with another class?

Thank you and good luck to you on your journey to your MBA.

Good morning,
Trying to plan out Spring. I am in my first class of the program: HCAD750 with Gherfal.

I don't see anything with Gibbs or Lin in AP2.
Currently, I am looking for guidance with the following,
AP1
ECON 705 with Shaughnessy
FIN 701 with Vines
ISDS 702 with Koksal
ISDS 705 with Lin

AP2
FIN 701 with Choi

I work full-time and have a family; so, I think one class might be my pace.

Many thank yous in advance for direction on order of classes and teacher.

HCAD 750: If I remember correctly, no you don't get to see what you missed, and he does change your grade some based on throwing out bad questions. My scores always increased by 2 to 3 points when he finalized the grades. I don't think he curves. This was the first class of HCAD offered in March 2018. He may have worked through those issues already and may not have anymore bad questions. Who knows, if he changed the material since that class or not. I thought he was a lenient grader especially on the papers. I made sure I did well on the papers to make up for the quirkiness of the exams that used information between three sources...the free text, the powerpoint, and the original text you have to buy that he does not mention. I found that he may use one source more that the others on one test, then change it up, so don't make the mistake like me and just depend on the source he tested on last. Review all of them. Hope this helps!

Getitdone,

Thank you for the response. We are given PDF files of a text book, plus power points, plus a second book.

It's my first class in some years and my first ever online class; so, making my way... I'm mostly shocked that there aren't any lectures online to listen to. Living and learning.

Again, thank you!

For Gherfal HCAD750, do you get your results back to see what you missed? I just bombed the first exam.

Anyone know if HCAD750 is curved? I keep reading; but, it is just alphabet soup. Feeling overwhelmed by all of the abbreviations. :-)

Has anyone taken HCAD 750 with Gherfal? If so, can you recommend some decent external sources for his written assignments? It would be a great help!

Great question! I'm in the same boat/class.

A group project? In ISDS 705? I'm interested in hearing more about this. Sounds completely different than how Lin's class operates.

Well, I can only paraphrase to respect the disclaimer on the Group Project Manual, "This document is proprietary to Dr. Mehdi Darban. Website posting, or reproducing and sharing in any form is strictly prohibited." Granted, the manual appears thorough with 35 pages and even has a section on how to earn a B.

Recommends travelling, if possible, to the company you would like to work on for the project. Also, group presentations. I'm not sure if I am there yet with online classes.

Also, I'm known as a hard @$$ at work; but, the overall tone of all documents is off-putting, even if I agree with them. Like emails/texts, this could be because it is in print and we do not have a rapport. Such as, " little sympathy, you are a grown up." And, the syllabus stating "I do not care what other professors do."

I'm not opposed to this class. It just doesn't seem like it will pair well with another class as previously mentioned while keeping a full time job along with a family life.

I am reading the Group Project Manual for ISDS 705 with Darban. This doesn't sound like the description of the class I've read about on Tigerdroppings. WOW

Unsure about pairing it up with another class.

@Charheels

I was not able to see an opening in Gibbs ISDS705. I have Darban.

Best of luck

Is there a forum (other than TigerDroppings) for students/classes?

I start on 10/22 and I don't have a clue what to do or where to be or when. Panic is starting to override anxiety. Books?

Any and all help welcomed. I am enrolled in HCAD750 and ISDS705

I was just accepted into the LSUS MBA program. There are 321 pages of comments on this topic--WOW. I've been called twice in the last two days to make sure I am comfortable with the process. I work full time and have signed up for ISDS 705 and HCAD 750 for the session starting in 3 weeks.

I graduated from LSU in December 2000....a LONG time ago. This whole process has me a touch nervous and very excited.

I look forward to reading all of the comments. :-)
