Is the format for ISDS 705 the same for Gibb’s section as it is for Lin’s section? I’m planning for the upcoming sessions and figured that Lin’s section will fill first, so I’m curious about Gibb’s method of delivery, testing, etc.

Thanks. Also, if anyone is curious about MADM 760 and how McLaughlin’s section is progressing, let me know and I’ll be happy to provide specifics.

I don't recognize that name at all and I've been reading/posting on here for close to a year. If Gibbs is a new instructor there's really no way to tell. Although, I could be wrong about Gibbs being new. The course itself wasn't bad at all, but take Lin if given the opportunity.

I am currently in Gibb's 705 and from what I can tell from this forum, his and the other 705 are completely different formats. In Gibb's, we have weekly modules where we do review questions, take quizzes, do an excel tutorial, and work toward a main project. I think in the other class there are 4 proctored exams and that is it.

Although there is more work to do each week in Gibb's class, I am enjoying it because Excel has never been my strong-suit, but this course is teaching me how to use it. And it is pretty easy. He is a very lenient grader.

Lin was full when I originally wanted to sign up. There is a function in compass where you can have the system alert you when someone drops(I.e doesn’t pay or whatever). I think it was Jeaux Cool who mentioned the fee deadline the last time on here for AP2 and I picked up a seat in the class that way.

Any 715 folks jumped off a cliff yet? I've taken notes on about 250+ pages this week with plenty still left. I just read her note about our research project (that is due next Thurs) and how it can be done 'no problem at all'. It'll be interesting to see how many pages we are assigned next week.

I'm so done with this no textbook garbage.

If you read through the forums on Moodle for 715, you will find some of the reading is irrelevant (certain cases and state laws) ! Great to find this out on Thursday.

MADM 760 with Meeks is a great course. I enjoy the material and he provides a ton of videos and supplemental material. The class is an easy class with a good bit of writing. 4-5 chapters to read each week and some mandatory videos. An easy timed quiz with 5 questions that you can take up to 10 times, a skill builder with 7 question that i personally write around 3-4000 words for each week and a group PPT and Video. Good format and one of my favorite classes so far.

I have a blank powerpoint. I'm trying to outline what it's going to look like. It's exactly like the example... except for the citations...and the cases... and the intro page. This is a mess.

I have 3-4 slides done. I spent maybe 2 hours on the abstract/slides a couple weeks ago. Been reading like everyone else since. I'm just throwing something together making sure I follow the rubic.

This whole course is a nightmare. Given how this course was slopped together, I'm embarrassed to even be a part of this business forum. Was glad to see many others express their displeasure on the course structure in the class forum. I'm just ready for this course to end.

Is the rubric in Moodle? I need to follow that idea.

Nice of Wren to mark some of the readings "OPTIONAL" on Thursday night/early Friday morning. SMH

Might explain where she was coming up with her "130 pages" 10 point font this Module in her forum post earlier.

I just finished the test in 715. It was more difficult than I had anticipated. There were 2 questions that had duplicate answers and one that worded so strangely that I think it was a typo. Hopefully she'll award a few mercy points.

I just finished the 715 test as well and there were multiple poorly written test questions and answer choices.

@BeckyBLU:

McLaughlin's 760 section is straightforward. No team project, two chapters per week, a discussion forum posting providing answers to 3-4 questions about a mini case study and two responses to classmates' postings on different days, a weekly current event assignment where you provide a summary, applicability, and thoughts on a recent article related to the week's content, and a weekly quiz consisting of 10-20 multiple choice and true/false questions that is proctored via proctorio. Very little interaction with professor. Academic coach grades your submittals. I like it.
