I did the exact same thing and wish I would have taken another course with it. My job demands change constantly so I was a little hesitant.

How is ECON 705? I did well in the intro econ/stats course (BADM701 I think) but econ is NOT intuitive for me.
Here is something I typed up a while back when someone asked about the class and I think it still holds true.
Try to get through the reading, video quizzes, and self assessment quiz as early in the week as possible, so you can focus on the main assignment, which can take several hours of work depending on your level of understanding. Also, he does Zoom (webcam) meetings 2 - 3 times a week. Attend those when you can or watch the recorded sessions. The live versions are better because he'll sometimes share too much on how to work the weekly assignment (in his opinion) and edit that stuff out in the recorded version.

Earlier on the tread (page 103+) people were panicking on ISDS 705 but the tunes seemed to have changed as of recent.

On a side note, I thought I was escaping Williams by taking Knotts' class only to find out today that my original TA for MADM 701was just replaced by Dr. Kimberley Williams!

I am doing that same pairing next term. Any tips and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

That is a different person. The professor for the other MADM 701 is Dr. Felice Williams.

Isn't the other MADM701 professor's name Felice Williams? From my research, Kimberley Williams has fantastic reviews and is the Online Programs Manager at LSU in BR. I know this because she is my academic coach as well so I looked into her

Jasons:
The ACCT PPT this week covers a lot of material in the other chapters of the book. When I went through it, my thought was that the reading assignments and the topic of the PPT are misaligned. I already read the whole book, so I recognized the material from other modules in the PPT. Oddly, the subject matter of this week's material is toward the end of the 109-slide PPT.

Although I haven't read the entire book (insomnia cure), I noticed the same thing. Glad to know I'm not alone.

Quick question for those of you taking ISDS 715(Project Management). What are your thoughts so far on the class and the instructor? Thank-you in advance.
Posted on 1/24/18 at 2:00 pm to becky1992
My thoughts of ISDS 715 are not favorable at this time (one and a half weeks into the class).
Here are my thoughts to reach that conclusion:
-No communication. No discussion board to engage with the instructor or other students. No team assignments. Nothing.
-Poor Materials. The first week only consisted of 35 pages of a ppt presentation. The ppt had very little organization and was hard to follow, imo.
-Evaluation Method. You are evaluated by 6 weekly quizzes, a final, and 6 weekly projects. The first exam consisted of around 30 t/f, multiple choice, and fill in the blank questions. Procored through proctorio. It was sort of difficult format with requirements to pick all correct answers. Have not yet received grades on first assignment so can't comment on grading, although there was little guidance on how to complete the assignment.
This is my 10th course in the program and it is by far the worst atmosphere. I really considered dropping it but I'm just about to graduate, hopefully.

This has me worried about ISDS 710 (Data Analytics) in the summer. It seems like LSUS/the professors are unprepared for courses this term, especially the new offerings. MADM 701 is very poorly structured as there's no forum on the Moodle page and we've yet to receive grades on assignments that were due Sunday. Those assignments are due weekly so it's difficult to get started on the next module's work without seeing how the grading is going to be.

Aurebelman, congrats on being in the home stretch with this one final class to complete. You're almost there!

Thanks socal, unfortunately I have one more after this. I'm on my 10th course but I missed the prereq changes by one term, so I took one of those.

quote:This is absolutely unacceptable. ISDS 705, which I took last semester, was the first class I had seen like this and I was hoping it was a fluke. Well, MADM 701, taught by the director of the MBA program, is also like this. It is very disappointing.
No discussion board to engage with the instructor or other students.

LSUS is clearly going to have to focus on individual attention and not becoming a diploma factory. A divide seems to exist between the professors that can successfully handle a large class and those who can't. Best practices need to be implemented to create a more consistent experience.
Just my 2 cents.

MADM 701 with Knotts and anxiously waiting to see what I made on my first writing assignment before I start my second one for Mod 2. It's almost COB Wednesday and we still don't have grades for that or the Reflection project...

Aurebelman, thank-you for the detailed update. So sorry to hear this, its a shame because the subject matter is very popular. I wish they could've vetted an Instructor similiar to Meeks.
