Was it really necessary for 14 posts in a row?

This thread which once was a wealth of information and guidance is now flooded with ebook handout requests and useless commentary. Rant over.

That is correct talked to many people who took the class over the last two years and they had 15 page mid-term paper as well as a 30 page paper due at end of term. They also had weekly forum post and responses to others with a weekend quiz.
Spoke to many students during down time during other classes zoom sessions. Multiple unconnected students lamented that they had to take off a week of work just to finish up the class. It just works out that it will be my last class this fall so I'm interested to see the difference. Either way, I'll be working hard to get my final A and finish with a 4.0 which was a personal goal.

Has everyone turned in their Synthesis Papers for MADM 760? Did yall submit 2 copies to the different options in module 7 and then a copy of the originality report PDF in one?
Posted on 8/17/17 at 12:17 pm to Benny The Jet
Yes. I submitted the paper to the generate originality report section then submitted both the word doc of my paper and the pdf of the report to the other section.

I submitted my originality report/paper in pdf format in the originality report section, then submitted my paper in the synthesis paper section.

Astro, I did it the same way. Just want to make sure I cover all of my bases.

The problem isn't the users, it's the moderators. Because the LSUS MBA program is so popular, it should allow for additional topics under the LSUS MBA heading. As an example, it would be nice if they would break it up like this or something similar to this:
1) LSUS MBA
a)Textbooks (Requests, content, etc.)
b)Core Course Questions
c)Electives
d)General questions that don't fall under those categories.
I feel for other users, threads get lost in here because you can only hit reply, it doesn't allow users to separate topics from one another. Just a thought.

Just received this email:
quote:
On Behalf of the MBA Director: The University has approved changes to the foundation courses for the MBA program. These foundation courses are BADM 700 Fundamentals Accounting/Finance and BADM 701 Fundamentals Economics/Statistics. Effective January 1, 2018, the current foundation courses will be eliminated and replaced with 4 one-credit hour courses that you decide whether you need or not. These classes will be offered on a pass/fail basis. This reduces the foundation credit hours in the MBA program from 6 to 4. More information will be provided about availability of these courses prior to registration for Spring AP1. How does this affect you today? You are no longer required to take foundation courses, but if you do not have a background in Accounting, Finance, Economics, and/or Statistics, you are strongly encouraged to opt to enroll in the classes covering content with which you are unfamiliar. Potential Registration Considerations:
o If you were waived from the foundation courses because of previous course credit – no change
o If you have already taken the foundation courses – no change
o If you are enrolled in foundation courses – you may continue in the courses in which you are enrolled or drop those classes, select classes with no prerequisites, and pick up the new foundation courses in Spring 2018 or later
o If you have taken one of the foundation courses – you can take the remaining 3 hour foundation course during Fall 2017 or take 2 one-credit hour classes covering similar content later in your degree program
o If you want to take foundation courses but have not registered for them – you may switch to the optional foundation courses starting in Spring 2018 or opt for the 3-hour courses in Fall 2017

Wonder what the price will be for these 1 hour classes. Interesting announcement.
Would any of you pay for and invest time in a class that isn't a requirement of the program?

I dropped BADM 701 a few days ago when I was told about the new structure (non-mandatory foundation courses). I have no intentions on taking the courses in the Spring. Although I do not have a Business degree, I have taken both economics and stats in undergrad. I also took managerial finance and accounting at the graduate level. I have a Doctoral degree, so I really don't see the purpose of me taking foundation level courses. I am sure the courses are beneficial for some. I am curious in regards to how the School of Business came up with this decision.

No required prerequisites?!?
I'm not thrilled with this change. It sure seems like they're dumbing down the program.
I wonder how they can keep their AACSB accreditation with something like this?
MBA2k19: You sound like you already had the prereqs met, were they forcing you to take the course for a specific reason?

My thoughts exactly. I can't see how this is beneficial for the program other than increasing enrollment which brings in more money

I would've done the same MBA2k19. That's why I asked... I can't fathom anyone taking these courses. Even those without a background such as yours.

It's preposterous to say the very least. Not sure what their "mission" is going forward. Alumni should be appalled by this requirement, or lack thereof. LSUS will be regarded as mere regional, "buy your MBA" type of program.

I was told it was because I did not have a "business" degree. Not sure if they even looked at my transcript to see what courses I took. I planned on appealing the decision as I truly believe I took those courses already. To be honest I would've taken the courses if they absolutely were required, because it was only two additional courses.
