CNBC: GM’s Cruise founder expects consolidation for makers of lidar self-driving vehicle sensors
quote:
In a series of tweets, Cruise President Kyle Vogt said recent valuations of lidar firms that have cut deals to go public with SPACs are overvalued.
Vogt is former CEO and co-founder of Cruise, General Motors’ majority-owned autonomous vehicle subsidiary.
He specifically named lidar companies AEVA, Innoviz, Ouster, Velodyne Lidar and Luminar Technologies, all of which have announced SPAC deals.

Interesting he didn’t mention MVIS. I realize MVIS is not a SPAC.

True. Plus MVIS’ market cap is under $900M
But the main takeaway here is that this race comes down to who has the quickest path to mass producing a high spec(safe) sensor in a small and affordable overall package for these auto OEMs.
There is a big chunk of a $40b-$80b prize on the line for the winner of this race.
LAZR being valued at $10B tells me they have the lead when it comes to the software side of the equation. But MVIS’ CEO is making it clear they will have the best hardware/spec/cost package. I guess we’ll find out in April when Microvision is scheduled to deliver sensor samples.
I’m curious to see how this all plays out over the next 12 months.

Indeed! I saw some patent news may have dropped. Haven’t had a chance to dig into just yet.

Worth noting in this thread:
Lucid Motors LiDAR
Lucid Motors LiDAR
quote:
Lucid partnered with key commercial suppliers for DreamDrive’s industry-best hardware systems, including Here, Continental, and Bosch. However, we're told all of the work of integrating the systems into Lucid DreamDrive is conducted entirely in-house.

Love it! I'm loaded to the brim on MVIS and will honestly be happy with anything over $20.
I have also started accumulating IPV (soon to be AEVA).

I am terrible at abbreviations so what does PT stand for?

Essentially I am saying for every Billion paid to MVIS on the REQUESTED BO, the stock price is $7. $5 Billion = $35 , $10 Billion - = $70. MVIS has over 500 patents, 28 years in business. Regardless of their current revenue, because TODAY fundamentals mean ZERO, $10Billion is my MVIS value.
