yes, here is our billion dollar clones - can we give that to you for rent? LMAO
You're also basing an entire argument on the notion that holding 160 strains is the key to what makes a billion dollar company. That shows a complete lack of understanding.
The overwhelming majority of clones sold to major cultivators boils down to just 3 groups - sativa, indica, and hybrid. The big cultivators (which will make up the majority of clone sales) don't care about all of those other strains, they just get lumped into one of those 3 categories. All of the other strains are "boutique" and a small minority of actual clone business (the stuff you sell to mom and pop shops for individuals to purchase and grow in their closet, or specific medical needs strains). And the majority of the 160+ strains are the tried and true strains that have been in the industry forever. There are just a small number that are proprietary.
A billion dollar company is built upon having multiple licensed large clone nurseries in strategic locations to supply large-scale cultivators. It has very, very little to do with how many strains you have. Having a large library of strains is merely a feather in your cap - but it's the cap itself that covers your head.

[/img] I'm at 500k plus shares of LVVV for shits and giggles basically.
A couple of points I would add here are this:
1) We have 438k sq ft of greenhouse operational and generating revenue for close to 2 years now off the CUP (Conditional Use Permit).
Any operation in California could be operational under a CUP in the state, while waiting for the state permit, generating revenue. Granted, it is dependent upon the city/county issuing the CUP, but most will due to crazy tax rates based on a canopy tax per square foot, permit fees, etc. (It's all about the $ for the municipalities).
2) Clone sales are a way to make some quick revenue, however, it would be detrimental to sell any proprietary strains you hold. Once sold there is no guarantee that the operation you sell to will not mother out the cuts and produce their own clones for their operation or sale. We hold those cuts close in house to maintain an edge in the market. Occasionally an extraordinary cut will rear her head, like Lemon Tree(actually a shitty growing plant in it's self, but one hell of a terpene profile for crossing), and command a 20k buy in for the cut.

I just dont see this ever happening
It is a commodity and once the race to market is over and any premium disappears the goal invariably shifts to the lowest price point possible just as with with all commodities.

With all of the legit players in this market, it baffles me that folks are willing to throw their money away on LVVV

I think it will be a mix
Some of the strains are better for different medical uses.
And some pot smoking friends I know are quite picky.

It’s a lottery ticket purchase with a little more meat to it.
Basically what has been said multiple times in this thread.

I get that but the wholesalers and retailers are going to eat up all the margins, the producers are going to end up just as in every other commodity market.
Who produced your milk, plywood, cotton, trees for paper, oil for gas, etc?

This is why having the capability to stack licenses (cultivation, concentration, dispensary and distribution) and acquiring them should be the end goal.

Will it be like a commodity though? I tend to think of it like craft beer. Certain strains will be preferred over others by different people. You may prefer a Michelob Ultra while I like a Guinness. It's the same with weed.
I can also homebrew a damn good Guinness clone. That said, I'd much rather buy it off the shelf. I'm assuming the same will be true with weed.
You may be right.

If they were able to trademark and licence a strain of a plant species then you are likely to be correct, no one has ever really been successful going down that road though.

I know everyone's been focused on LVVV but man GBLX is plummeting as well. I don't own any but it's on my watch list.

I'm currently up over 12% on my EMHTF, but I'm holding long on that. It's come down a little over the last week or so, but not at the rate of most of the others I've looked at.

1yr low is .14 on GBLX. I’ve watched it for a while, I should have bought @.15 a week & a half ago but I was waiting for it to shatter that .14 low. I’ve got an order in now for .16 if it makes it there. Profits from LA should start rolling in soon with them.

When should profits show up for GBLX

Cali governor is asking for help from the national guard to bust up all of the illegal grow operations. This should help legit growers.. cough LVVV...
