Eta: I just found out what happened. RAI was bought by British Tobacco and is now a subsidiary of BAT. It doesn't trade under RAI any longer. The consolidated company trades under the ticker symbol BTI. Do you want BTI as one of your 5 picks?

Well damn, I owned that stock almost 5 years and sold it early last year. Didn’t realize that. Yes I will change it to BTI

You probably missed out on getting an acquisition premium for your RAI shares unless you sold after the announcement. OUCH!!

This contest is LSUtoOmaha's project but I put together a simple Excel spreadsheet with a table so that all I have to do is enter the YTD performance from the Morningstar website for each stock and the table updates it for whoever has picked that stock. There are quite a few duplicated stocks chosen so it saves time not having to manually input the same stock multiple times for different posters on the spreadsheet.

That's how I discovered that RAI was no longer being traded because it wasn't showing up on Morningstar as an active stock.

Yeah, I sold everything 1-30-2017, I did pretty good though, owned if for a few years, still liked the stock but decided to load up more on V. Haven't kept up with it though for awhile, glad you said something, so I can change it on my picks

For grins, I thought everyone might like to know who the stock picking leaders are after a whole 5 trading days in 2018.

bayoubengals88 is in first place at 9.69%, with his picks of FCAU (20.96%) and XXII (20.71%) leading the way.

In second place is Moots with a total return of 9.30%. His top 2 picks so far are MU (10.77%) and JD (11.30%).

Currently in the Bronze medal place is stout @ 7.64%. His 2 highest picks to-date are NVDA (11.32%) & MU (10.77%).

No names mentioned but the poster in last place right now has a total return of -3.91%. Hurting him is three picks with a negative total return as of 1/8/18.

Below are the total returns for each stock in our contest as given by MorningStar.com. The bottom of the list is out of alphabetical order because those were added by posters who joined the contest after I had set up my original Excel table.

If you see one of your stocks that appears to be incorrect please let me know.

In setting up the table using MorningStar I noticed there are several companies with identical symbols due to some foreign companies listed on foreign stock exchanges.

In all cases I used the stock listed on one of the American exchanges rather than a foreign company.

But if you meant for your company to be the non-American company let me know.

You won, stout. I wanted to see if anyone was paying attention.

It's MU 10.77%. I'll fix it. Thanks.

The number was 10.77% in the spreadsheet which is what's used to compute the overall %.

If you noticed in the stock list which I copied and pasted from my Excel table, MU was shown at 10.77% so the overall % was correct for you and Moots to begin with.

It was a typo on my part when I was typing the sentence on the three leaders' results.

I'll try to do better in the future.

Mind double checking PEGA (showing 0.00%)?

Should we add the S&P500 Total Return index?

PEGA on MorningStar.com

It looked goofy to me, too, and I double checked it, but it's what MorningStar shows. (see above link)

If MorningStar has an incorrect number, hopefully they will catch it as the year progresses.

Remember the YTD performance figure is as of the close of trading yesterday.

Add to what? It's easily available to everyone and we're not competing against it. Feel free to post it anytime you want.

FWIW, it's at +2.77% YTD according to MorningStar.

Thanks.

No need to include S&P; just thought it would be easy to add to the rest of your list as a benchmark of sorts.

I feel like it’s me Fricking EGO needs to get its shite together. Greece govt shut down their mine and it’s in a court battle to get it back going. I made good money on that stock I wanna say 7-8 years ago, maybe a tad longer.
