So I have an interview coming up for a job I want in another state. There is no way in hell I'd be able to move there without getting some relocation assistance, mainly because the buyout on my apartment lease(Expensive Seattle rent). It would be a decent amount of money and its not something I could put on a credit card, would have to pay cash.

Every job I have ever gotten in another state, they have given me relocation assistance of some sort, but I understand each company is different. The company I am interviewing for is a decent sized corporation that you all have heard of and probably been patrons of so its not like they are too small and don't have the money.

I understand I am just a candidate at this point but my goal is to hold off on the fact I need assistance until after I get offered a job, whether it be this one or another. That way I can impress them, get them to want me, and then they would have to throw in the assistance to get me. I would use it as leverage. I feel like if I let them know off the bat I would need assistance they would use that as a reason to no longer be interested. I intend to not bring it up but what I am worried about is if they ask me if I would need relocation assistance. Should I lie and say no, be honest and say yes, or try to find a way to be vague about it? Hopefully the question would not come up but in the phone screening interview I had the other day the first thing they asked me is if I would be able to relocate(not financially, but just in general).

For those of you wondering why I am just not waiting until the end of my lease. The company I am with now is restructuring and my role is being eliminated. They said I will probably be reassigned in the company, but instead of them putting me in a job I don't want or in fact being laid off, I am instead trying being proactive. Besides I want the frick out of Seattle anyway.

Obviously not since you will eventually have to tell them you do and that will look worse on you.

Also, if they are bringing it up then they probably either have a program in place (if it's such a big company as you stated), or they're not open to it at all and are trying to weed out candidates. Either way it's better for you and them if you're just up front about it.

I wouldn't necessarily offer it up right away if they don't ask, but I wouldn't lie about it if they do.

Withholding info and lying are not the same thing. I wouldn't lie in a job interview ever, but that's me.

You probably already know this, but just don't make a deal out of it if it's unnecessary. If they bring it up, be honest. If they can't pay for you to relocate, you can't take the job anyway. In my limited experience, it probably won't come up until an offer is made or close to being made anyway.

They are probably asking you so if they need to they can budget a RELO package With an offer. I would tell them if they asked you will need some relocation assistance and tell them specifically what it is.

They know you live in Seattle based on your application. Be hones throughout the process. Relocation is not a big money item in the grand scheme of how much money is spent to find and hire the right people.

They may cap your relocation and that is fine. If they do because of HR policies, then negotiate a larger signing bonus.

I'm a big believer in honesty and his could be a great opportunity to see how your future boss treats his/her employees.

There's certainly a middle ground that be played here. Definitely wouldn't lie and tell them no, especially since if they were to offer, you'd be then asking for one. But at the same time, without knowing what the details of any offer is, you may not know whether you truly do or do not need relocation assistance. What if the offer more than makes up for it? What if they offer a sign-on bonus instead? Figure out the right words to use ahead of time, but I wouldnt definitively answer yes or no during the interview...

Unless the people doing the hiring at this company are a special kind of stupid this isn't their first rodeo and they know that by interviewing people out of state they will be looking for relocation help, this isn't uncommon and not normally a deal breaker. I think you are reading too much into this.
