I thought I could slip in a contribution last minute today after finally finding out my AGI was within limits. Oops it's past banking hours, can't post a transaction for today.

Any sneaky loopholes?

Bank: USAA
Brokerage: Schwab

Might need to get out of the country with cash

Otherwise just clean it up as quickly as possible and doubtful it goes anywhere.

Can’t think of any legal ones.

Sorry read it backwards. Thought you contributed then found out AGI was over.

If you already filed it then you can’t do much.

This may seem insane at this point but today is the tax deadline and I *believe* Bluebonnet post office (or your equivalent if you aren't in BR) stays open until midnight today. Obviously call first, but if it's postmarked by today it counts.

Find a custodian that would backdate the contribution and code it accordingly some kind of way?

Those days ended after Covid, for the most part.

That would require a director-level approval.

Not unless you have a way to have a letter backdated. If it was stamped on April 15th you probably get away with it. We're a couple days late on that.

If I were you and this was the 16th I would have tried with a physical check dated April 14th, memoed for 2023 Roth IRA mailed and see if they let it slide. Possibly their due diligence doesn't require documentation on the postmark date (speculation that is more likely wrong than right).
