It has nothing to do with "getting him".

It has everything to do with what we requested that our wonderful allies to handle. The ignored it.

1/2 of the businesses are looking at shifting some operations into the USA.

60% is looking at acquisitions into the USA.

All means jobs for US Citizens and no tariffs.

I will say at least you are on this board without name calling. I’ll give you props for that.

BTW, where are you getting all of these “facts” from.

Canada has been our best ally we have had in the last 50 years.

Btw, Trump used tariffs last term. Our economy was the better for it. Not everything is black and white.

Studies have shown that Trump's tariffs cost US consumers $3.2B every month.

This is also from teh same survey:
"Nine out of 10 respondents said they “wholeheartedly believe” that the federal and provincial governments “must stand firm in protecting Canada’s sovereignty and values,” even if it hurts their business. Over eight in 10 want a targeted, dollar-for-dollar retaliatory response."

Nowhere is Reagan mentioned. I mentioned FDR and Communists.

Have they? We asked nicely on this issue. They ignored it.

No they haven't. Politically aligned "studies" may have. But you really have a tough sell to the American public who lived under his first term.

It's why it was easy for him to walk back into the WH.

I 100% think that this with Canada will be resolved sooner than we think. Mexico is a different matter.

The worst part is Trump has made non-quantifiable demands for the tariffs to end. He said immigration and fetanyl with no goals given.

Point being, this is the most unnecessary trade war in US history. And he’s threatening the EU!? I mean, what is the point of this? Renew American industry? So are we supposed to wait 5-10 years for these industries to come back home. Really?

Anyone have any stock plays for American companies that just got a big advantage bump now that they are competing against tariff'd goods coming from Mexico or Canada?

I'm looking for CP and CNI (railroads) to drop as they are heavily reliant on cross border trade. CP (Canadian Pacific Kansas City) crosses both the Canadian and Mexican borders.

The two Canadian stocks I follow are Canfor and Interfor. Timber companies that have a lot of land/operations in the states. I wasn't sure how they would react, but they opened down 4 and 6%.

That was 5-6 years after you started investing, you would not have had that much money at play, it has been 20 plus years since that event.
