contribute the absolute max, which is $19,500 pretax regardless what people tell you in here

Not everyone has the same employment situation or retirement plan.

Individual max is 19500.

Some of us can do employer contributions a well.

some of these dudes save more in a year than I make.

I love this. It gives me hope for America if only slightly. As mentioned before, money talk posters seems to be the outlier. I’m not going to lie, there are times where I listen to Dave Ramsey’s show just to feel a lot more secure and happy about my situation.

Max my 401k and Roth IRA. In lieu of matching, my company puts $8.85 every hour I work into an annuity. Also earning pension hour credits but that’s calculated at a formula I won’t get into. So about $3600 a month not including the pension.

I’ve recently started a monthly contribution to my brokerage account and I’ve been putting an extra hundred dollars a month on the principle of the house I bought in January just because I don’t know what else to do with my money. I’m not eligible for an HSA.

Between my wife and I and not counting company matches.

About 2,000 a month.

That’s two 401ks
Two IRAs.
crypto
Gold/silver purchases each month.

Currently nothing going into retirement accounts. Nasty divorce 5 years ago wrecked me financially and just back to where I can contribute again.

Starting 01.01.2021 will be contributing 5% to 401k (minimum for 4% company match) and another $250/month into a RothIRA.

Job has a pension plan which as it stands today would net me $70k/yr at 59.5

Doing ok but nowhere near where I want to be

SO is a resident. Her entire salary is currently going to student loans.

I'm maxing my 401k ($19.5k) and Roth IRA ($6k). My company matches 4% 401k as well.
Rest of my salary goes to mortgage/utilities/etc.
