Most expectations have already been priced into the market. You have to get in when the first projections for landfall are made to get any decent returns.

I don't doubt that some expectations have already been priced in, but the full magnitude of damage hasn't been established yet. Theres still houses flooding tonight that weren't flooded yesterday. I know from experience with the Denham/BR flood of last year that masonite and jeld-wen interior doors were in very short supply. orders would take over a month to come in. this flood could end up being 3x the number of flooded homes compared to the great LP flood. DOOR is up 5% since Friday, up to 63.45 with a 52 week high of 85.30

Bought some HD, VLO and DOOR today. I think it will be a massive and long recovery and this is money in my IRA. Some companies will do very well and I think these are positioned well in their industries.

USG is up 13% since my first post. They announced earnings today so it doesn't completely support my thesis

DOOR is up 6%

This thread might need a revival. Things are going to get interesting in Florida, unfortunately.

I may be late to the game, but I loaded up on USG and HD today. With two significant storms out there, I think both will continue to go up on speculation alone. Even after Irma hits, speculation on Jose should continue to drive price up. Time will tell

The next question is which of these stocks that have seen massive runs are worth shorting now?
