BECN's performance has historically always been positively correlated with major storms. You can see it already began to trade higher late last week, with three analysts being keen enough to upgrade it on Friday. I expect it will outperform this week.

By the way, to the people downvoting, I don't think the OP or anyone who responds with investment themes means any disrespect to any of those impacted by this storm. We can with good conscience both mourn for those involved and seize on an opportunity, so long as said opportunity doesn't prey on those victims of this disaster. We are complex organisms.

Water, pop tarts, charcoal, bug spray. Big movers.

Lots of beer,liquor and tobacco.

And strip clubs. Construction workers going to work in disaster area love the clubs.

I know I'm missing something . . .

Whether you call them opportunists and captains of industry or exploiters/robber barons makes no difference. This country was built on the kind of thinking mentioned by the OP.
Capitalism is NOT kind hearted.

I guess no one on this board made any money off of BP after the oil spill, or shorted any bank stocks during the financial crisis, or bought/flipped houses after the Denham springs flood or foreclosures during the housing crisis, or bought oil, or gold, or bitcoin. Give me a break. Its not like I'm in Houston selling $30 tacos or renting bateaus

Capitalism has done more good for society than any other economic system in existence.

Quit trolling.

Indirectly, yes, it has.
But the process can, has, and should be, ruthless. Capitalism operates under the premise of Social Darwinism, and I'm ok with that.
Did Rockefeller wish to better humanity or make money? What was his primary incentive? Maximum profit at all cost...
So it should be with everyone in the free world.
I'm not trolling anyone.

I got news for you bud, the people running socialist governments don’t give a frick about humanity either. None of them have lived like paupers. Most only care about power. Why this has turned into a political debate, I dunno. I’m just hoping to make a few extra bucks in my retirement account so I’m not relying on government cheese in my twilight years.

Wondering what the louisiana real estate market will do. Was looking to put my house on the market next week, but thinking I may wait a month or so.

"Wondering what the louisiana real estate market will do. Was looking to put my house on the market next week, but thinking I may wait a month or so."

I was thinking the same thing, but regarding the rental market.

After Katrina Lafayette went through the roof as well as other areas. But Houston is 4 hours away not 2.

I have a tenant who was moving out at the EOM to relocate to Houston with his job. He called today to see if he could extend his lease until the dust settles. I told him no problem.
