Does the sale of 8.5m shares to Mudrick Capital sway this thing one way or the other?
Does it show legit investment from an institution and increase the value or does Mudrick help out their boys and manipulate down in one way or another?
Genuinely don’t know, asking as a novice.

I don't know much about the stock market, but it seems to me that Mudrick wouldn't piss away 238 million...

Yeah, I don’t see how you can view this as bad news.

Who says they would be pissing away... a good old wink and nod to the institutions holding those shorted shares to help manipulate this thing.
No different than what RobinHood did a few months back.
ETA: I honestly have no clue, but I also didn’t expect RH to be able to do what they did to manipulate the markets for their broker buddies.

It’s dilutive. All else being equal, these things are negative for current share holders.
Obviously AMC share price is detached from the actual company. Their 8-K disclosed risks are almost comical at this point.

They’re more interested in AMC debt. That’s Mudrick’s wheelhouse. They could have invested in the stock directly in the market for much cheaper, but they want/need the capital to go directly into AMC to secure the underlying bonds.

To add context to this, AMC debt still trades at a steep discount to par. The bond market isn’t nearly as bullish.
AMC now down to 25MM shares or so left of their authorized shares, by my rough count.

My guess is Mudrick was short AMC and wanted to exit the position.
AMC wanted to issue more shares for more money.
They arranged the 27 dollar price since they were short so many shares.
Guessing Mudrick has already exited the position at this time, and AMC got to sell more shares.
Win-Win except for current shareholders, who suffer more dilution even though AMC said they would not dilute further

Wait, the stock is up 15% on that news?
We just need Chitstain to jump in and post now, and we will hit the naysayer trifecta before 9am!!

This stock was at $9 a few weeks ago and is currently at $30 - $31. That is a hell of a profit. No one can be faulted for taking money at this point with something that is a straight gamble.

You do realize that a ton of calls expired Friday ITM, right? Have you look at the calls that expire on June 4th?

You do all of this in the same vein of AT. A thousand catalysts, buy more, get in farther…and then the bottom falls out and people are left holding.
I said $9 to $31 is a hell of a place to take money. I’m not wrong. You can make your arguments for the stratosphere and you’ll likely have people holding with you. I’m saying there’s isn’t a thing in this world wrong with taking earnings now.

yea I'm fine with my profits..
feel like this is one of those stocks you need to monitor like a 9-5 job at this point as price action can move either way with high volume

Brother, this stock isn’t going anywhere but down. You’ve got to start planning your exit. The product they offer is something people can do in their own homes. Movie buffs will still go to the theaters, but AMC and movie chains don’t have exclusive rights to big picture releases anymore.
Your expectations for what this stock is going to do is based on hopes and prayers at this poin

And, fundamentally, I was correct then, and I’m correct now. This isn’t investing, and pretending it is is a disservice to anyone blindly following your advice.
I’m trying to understand why you take an issue with people taking their money at $31.
