Thoughts on this? Recommendations for ETFs?

gold is a horrible hedge against inflation, dude. Look at its performance. It’s $150 lower / oz now than it was at the beginning of the year.

Inflation isn’t the indicator for gold.
The real indicator is “real” rates. Gold generally moves inversely to real rates.
A real interest rate is an interest rate that has been adjusted to remove the effects of inflation to reflect the real cost of funds to the borrower and the real yield to the lender or to an investor.
So inflation can go up, but as interest rates have been held artificially low then gold has a difficult time catching a bid.
There’s also an argument that crypto has taken some “diversification” money away from gold. I’ve got no understanding of whether this is true or not.

I am not so sure this is the case anymore. Think about who the cryptobros are and the last bull run correlates with 7 million new retail entrants into the market. They all have disdain for gold like it's an ex girlfriend that banged their best friend. The only people I know of who own both are gold bugs themselves. I think the gold market topped out last summer because we were in full boar risk-on. BTC is at the top of the risk-on hierarchy of securities.

This year's events was supposed to be what Gold and other PMs were made for. They have performed horrendously - I wouldn't own any PMs going forward because of this. Bitcoin is sucking a lot of values out of gold lately
