i wasn't either, bbg acquired the start-up i worked for in Dec 2010 as part of a broader effort to branch out into the market analysis/forecasts etc. although we were acquired, bbg has largely left us alone to do as we do. i do energy sector mkt fundamentals & macro-economic modelling, not on the back-end w/ the C++ but on the front-end w/ a zillion different inputs we use.

I've never used FactSet so I can't comment on that, I just know if I pop open that chat box someone will write the formulae I need and it usually takes about 30 seconds.

is the part i work in, we're on and off terminal and sell to high-end clients on a subscription basis and those with a terminal get a discount, we're integrating our delivery w/ the terminal more and more though
