good news, now i think i need a bit of guidance as I'm nowhere near a tax pro
i actually just filed my 2010 state taxes a couple weeks ago when I realized I never did it last year....I was getting a small refund anyway, so no real damage done.
This is the first time I've ever used the La Dept of Revenue website to efile so I did 2010 and 2011 back to back.
How exactly would I e-file an amendment for the flex fuel deduction? Can someone possibly link me to where to find the actual form so that I can look over it by chance? And anyone know where its at on the e-file system?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here. An amendment with the State, to the best of my knowledge, can't be filed online...paper return only. The credit can be claimed under Section F of the return for Refundable Credits by using code 71F. Hope this helps.

Roofdog, did you have a CPA file your state taxes?

Must be files through the mail. You need a schedule f code 71f, you'll need buyers order as well. You had to purchase the vehicle new as well.

Well guys i filed my amendment online. I was able to attach the proper backup - all 3 docs, the appropriate schedule, and i used the correct code. I did not file with a CPA i did it myself. I have a CPA license in another state. I had to re-fax my bill of sale to them because they said they could not read my pdf i uploaded. Got an email back today that said that the code was proper for this but i have not heard back on the refund status. Its going to be rejected, you watch!

You should be good to go.
Give it a few weeks for your refund check to be issued.
Fricken car dealerships still printing invoices using carbon paper was your problem. What's up with that anyway? Who still uses carbon paper other than them?

FWIW I got my state refund direct deposited today.
I bought a 2011 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab 1500 LT in 2011. I claimed the exemption (10% of the purchase price since my purchase price was less than $30000) Sticker on the truck was 35k but I claimed 10% of purchase price to be safe.
I filed online with the state's website and attached a scanned .pdf of my registration and my window sitcker proving it was a Flex Fuel vehicle.
Whole process took roughly two weeks.

How did you determine the "purchase price"? I bought a 2011 F-150 and it came with all of those crazy rebates and deductions etc. Did you just do the total price that you paid for the car after all of the rebates etc? In particular, I did a trade in as well, so the total price I paid includes a credit for the trade in. I feel like I should at least add that trade-in credit back to the total I paid.

Cash price = sales price
Look at the first price before rebates, trades, and down payment.
That is good to hear that someone got this credit. Gives me something to look forward too.

FWIW... I work here in downtown BR and I couldn't take it anymore after reading all this stuff here about the possible tax credit. I bought a flexfuel vehicle- bought a 2010 Ford Escape w/flexfuel feature. I just walked to the Dept. of Revenue Bldg. on North St. I spoke with one of the agents on the second floor- printed out my vehicle info. to show them, etc... I told them I wanted to avoid unnecessary paperwork for myself and for them, so I asked if my vehicle would qualify for the credit- she asked her supervisor and the answer was YES. Going to be filing my amended return tonight- sweet....

I think it would be fair to ask for 10% of everyone's refund for announcing it to TD right??? I will setup a PayPal account tomorrow!

Update, called today to check on my refund status. After waiting 20 minutes for a rep, i was asked for my basic info.. Then i was put on hold for over 6 minutes ....after which the rep said my return was still being reviewed by a specialist......

LOL... I just completed my amended return- I'm not spending it until I have it in hand. I plan to walk it over to Dept. of Revenue by my office tomorrow and confirm that my paperwork/verification is in order. They told me I should be good to go today, but it seems to good to be true - will update with what transpires. Send prayers...
