So I found an API webservice that I would like to compare with your spreadsheet russian.

Basic formula is along the lines of
=webservice(LINK =)

Assuming this checks out I'd be willing to conduct the contest next year. as long as everyone is ok with submitting to a webform for selections and similar rules that is.

When I click, the page I get only shows the following text:

quote:

{"error":"child \"token\" fails because [\"token\" is not allowed to be empty]"}

Can you link that link for whatever an api token is?

Is there not like a "fantasy stock" service out there already? A place we can invite TD Members and then have the discussions here?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Our final update for shows Vols&Shaft83 was our winner for 2019! His amazing average total return for his five stock picks was 85.07% for the year mostly attributable to his pick of ROKU which finished the year with a total return of 337.01%! If ROKU was removed from V&S83's picks, his other four stocks experienced an average YTD return for 2019 of 22.09%.

In second place was WPBTiger @ 82.89% which would blow away even the most celebrated Wall Street gurus except for Vols&Shaft83.

The AVERAGE return for all of our players for 2019 was 36.30% compared to the total return for the S&P500 Index of 31.22%. Eat your heart out, Jim Cramer!!

Performance results updated through close of trading on Tuesday, December 31, 2019.

The number to the right of your YTD % was your ranking from our last update as of 12/13/19. The percentage number to the right of your previous ranking number was what your YTD performance percent was on the last update.

Back in high school a group of us had a contest like this. Instead of picking 5 stocks we pretended we each had $10,000 and picked stocks to see who came out the best at year end. I put all my money into Pan Am. About a month later Pam Am 103 happened. Said I’d never invest in airlines again.

I agree that people should do their own research if they have the capabilities and training to do their own.

It is simply wrong, however, to say the the conventional wisdom is that diversification is bad. The conventional wisdom is just the opposite. Our little contest throws water on that conventional wisdom.

I rarely have more than 4 or 5 stocks in my portfolio. I did this year experiment with Greenbalt's "magic formula" and it did not beat the index but the logic of the system is sound and back data proves it will over time beat the index. It is hard to implement and track but the investment criteria---earnings at cheap prices---is simply and straight forward.

Very few funds or privately managed accounts have exceeded the return of the S&P 500 of late.

There is no question that more investor money goes into diversified portifolios whether it be mutual funds, index funds, ETFS ore even private portfolio managed accounts.

All 5 stocks each up over 40%. I think we were the only two that accomplished that.
