FAANG stocks
Trying to decide which one or ones to invest in. I have 20K to invest long term and thinking about making my own mutual fund between these stocks. Any reason not to do this other than they all seem really expensive bc of the year they had last year?

Am I better off for retirement money putting it all in a mutual fund and just find one that invests heavily in tech sector but still would be a little more diversified?

re: FAANG stocks
You can look at tcbrx which is heavy into the FANG stocks but has other diversification. Also, XLK is the technology etf.

Thanks. I'm very green when it comes to investing. What is difference between etf and a mutual fund? Or is there a difference?

re: FAANG stocks
Usually higher liquidity, no minimums and lower fees. Much like buying a stock .

re: FAANG stocks
What wu-tang said but I would add they are generally less actively managed.

re: FAANG stocks
When you invest in a mutual fund, you are buying shares of a company which invests your money into their portfolio of stocks.

An ETF is generally a pool of stocks which either replicates an index or captures exposure to stock factors (momentum stocks, value stocks, etc.)

Mutual funds are generally a little more expensive but they also aim to outperform their benchmarks.

re: FAANG stocks
why not all of them? Fidelity lets you buy a "basket" of stocks. I really like Google, FB, and AAPL.
