It was my largest single holding from 2016 until Dec. ‘24. I sold ~50% after the big election bump as I saw Elon’s influence being much more favorable for SpaceX and to a lesser extent Xai and X Corp rather than TSLA.
The Q1 numbers are going to be bad. The rise of the Chinese vehicles with level 2/3 self driving tech and battery tech to rival or surpass Tesla at a much lower price point combined with Elon’s current reputation with EV purchasers is going to rock margins.
Long term, you have to believe (1) that Level 4/5 FSD can be accomplished safely with a vision only system, (2) that Elon can leverage his influence to get legislation allowing and limiting liability for Level 4/5 FSD with vision only, and (3) that Tesla can nail the robot in the not too distant future.
