You could also just write your own, get it notrarized and witnessed.
If you're going to do this, just be aware that there are several things that need to be in a will to make it valid and admissible for probate. I don't have the specific list handy, I just know that there are certain things that need to be in every will.

Just had a will done for $600
Mine was a little complicated because i set up a trust in the even both my wife and I die for my daughters, so their mother cannot get anything

I would beat my attorney's arse if he charged me $1500 for a simple will. But the OP does need one.

If your employer offers legal insurance you can get it done for very little.
I opted for our company's legal insurance this year (MetLaw), which costs barely anything per month. I will get our will done for no extra charge next month.

Maybe you're happy with it, but this is generally a complete waste of money.

I just started working with a financial advisor and he has stated that setting up a will is one of the first steps that I should take. He said he would be able to refer me to an attorney and that it would cost about $1500 for me and my husband.
Do we really need to create a will and if so do we really need to go to an attorney or can we just create one online?
We are both about to turn 30, we don't have any children yet, we have mortgage, retirement, etc. We are both named as the primary beneficiary on each other's accounts.
Any input would be great!
A few points.
1. I'm a lawyer.
2. Your financial advisor has a lawyer friend whose bread he is buttering. They probably cross refer all the time, not that there is anything wrong with that but I think he is looking out for his friend and not you.
3. $1,500 is a lot for simple reciprocal "I love you" wills typical of young, married couples with no kids and no taxable estate.
4. You probably should get a will, but you can have this done for a lot less than $1,500 I guarantee it. Shop around.
5. Get a new financial adviser.

Yes, you should have a will if married.
The good news is that you can do it yourself without an attorney. You have to write it out yourself and sign and date it.

First problem right there. Not anything wrong, but do your homework, references, etc. Only 30 with no kids and make a will sounds extreme.
