Once you get out of the public accounting stage most jobs are <50 hours a week.
My controller probably averages 50 but the rest of the accounting staff doesn’t break 40 very often outside closings and audit time.

Tell that to all the B4 kids out there.
Try being a B4 auditor of actuarial items. I honestly feel bad for them, they have an extremely hard time

In my second year of B4 busy season right now and have worked 70-75 chargeable hours (not including lunch, dinner, breaks, etc.) every week of 2019. 55-60 hour weeks all of November and December (outside of the week of Christmas).
Fortunately, deadline is near. Will not be doing it again next year..

Very few people actually work 60+ hours a week. These accountants are fudging their numbers.
Wish someone would tell my fiance to stop fudging her numbers (B4 auditor), it would have been nice to see her during the week the last month and a half.
