Dealership internet pricing

Thinking about buying a new truck from Mac Haik in Houston. Their Internet pricing seems competitive, but was wondering how much negotiating room they will give you.

FYI-The internet price includes all available rebates- you may not qualify for all of them.

You should be able to negotiate via email. I wouldn't tell them you live outside of Houston - your leverage drops when you arrive and say you just drove 4+ hours to buy a car.

A good place to start but that is not always the best price- depends on your negotiation skills
Internet pricing, fleet pricing, credit union, etc- lots of places have pre agreed sales structure- these are all about the same
If you are going out of town to purchase some questions to ask
1. How much should you save to drive out of town to buy?
2. How much does buying in town mean when it comes to getting service at a local dealer?
3. Why are you so sure you can get a better price out of town?
Not saying it is wrong or right- just think through it.
I have taken out of town prices to local dealers and they have treated me fair when I put the price in front of them ( make sure you have a firm email quote or written quote)

You should, but not always the case. I was recently looking for a vehicle and found what I wanted. Emailed the dealership and attempted to get a better price, I got the "We are below KBB, we can't do anything".... Well I happened to be near the dealer the next day and stopped in to look at it. The internet guy caught onto who I was and said they could wheel and deal since I was there in person. Instantly took almost 10% off the used price that he couldn't move off of just 24hrs before.
Its all BS

I'm in a similar situation of buying a car over the internet/phone. I've been doing quite a bit of research. Here's one article that I've been using quite a bit. Read through all this and then use the information on their site to find the invoice and MSRP for whatever car you want.
I'm currently in the stage of soliciting best offers from dealers. I've had some that were resistant to give me numbers and negotiate over the phone and some that have been awesome, right when I've asked for an internet manager they patched me in.
Good luck with your situation. I'm buying in Houston too .
Good Info

Good luck using the Internet/email. I found most dealers would not play ball that way - but when I did that is who I bought the car from.

I negotiated my last purchase via email. Sent queries to several dealerships, several wouldn't give pricing or talk turkey unless I went there. F that. Got a great deal from a BR dealership with no hassles, they even delivered the car to me 72 miles away.
I don't have hours to waste hopping from place to place. Anyone who wants my business is going to have a decent website and no run around.

I feel the same way. Let's text and get it done. I don't have hours to waste in a dealership. I will also remember which ones would deal online and go there first next time.

I did the same and bought my wife's suv by internet and phone.
It was funny how i went to a dealership 10 minutes from house on a Friday evening got a price before close but didn't do anything.
I looked on the web the next morning, called another dealership with the price on the web that they had listed.
I made a deal over the phone. My wife drove 45 minutes but we saved $4000 from the night before. I had to tell my wife to turn down the warranty they were trying to make money on.

they want you in the door so they can talk face to face with you

Mac haik advertises very low prices
There is likely almost zero negotiation room. They are willing to sell rock bottom to get lots of volume

They don't want me in the door. I am their worst nightmare. Once they figure out what my background is they move me to the mgr office which is where I want to be
Posted on 3/29/15 at 7:57 pm to Me4Heisman
Mac Hiak won't move off that price. They are the largest volume Ford dealer in the US and do so by showing you their rock bottom price and not moving.
I bought in 2013 and best I could do at competing dealers is get them to match. No one in the Houston Metro area will go below their advertised price.

Yeah that's kind of what I figured from Mac Haik.

Purchased last couple of cars via internet. Some dealerships have departments that specialize in it.
Learn from this though. I negotiated with a place in Houston and agreed to purchase a car if they would switch rims. Guy said done deal. The day I was heading down though I asked him to take new pic of the car with rims on it and send to me. He got back to me and said "oh, somebody had sold the other car they were gonna get the rims off of without him knowing". If I hadn't asked for that pic and traveled all the way down there would I have been pissed enough to turn around or too pissed to go home without the car? He was banking I would have not left empty handed I guess.
I found a deal in Dallas instead.

Nothing pisses me off more than this. Just tell me what you can do. I don't want to look at you at all much less sit in your cube and talk
