Nice change, but I already read it before your edit. Maybe not as ideal, but still not shite. The ability to double/triple dip makes up for it by far.

Don't listen to someone trying to get a referral bonus from you

For starters, if you go with the Gold first, you will never be able to pull the 100K plat offer (get the 75k icognito at the very least). Go to cardmatch tool website first to see if you can pull it up. It seems to pop up randomly if you never had a MR card before.

It's like amateur hr in here with defensive people when just trying to help. I remember why I don't come here much.

He already got the Plat dipshit, he’s not going to get 100k again. I told him to get the biz Plat if anything. You’re still wrong about the comparison to the CSR but you won’t admit it. Like I originally said, learn to read.

Also, explain why if someone got the Gold couldn’t get the Plat 100k bonus at some point? Since you’re such a pro I’d love to hear it. Or you going to not grace our presence anymore?

Amex is losing customers left and right. It's not a debatable topic.

Though, I'm excited that they are, because at some point they have to get more competitive to get customers back, which likely means better bonuses and benefits and hopefully the removal of lifetime language.

Like I said, they already have... The targeted 60k offer in your account removed the language.

I know about targeted offers. That's always been the case.

But I'd rather hit the bonus when I feel like it. Ya know, like the good old days of only 5 years ago.

Haha...

I’m worried Amex May up their bonus to compete with CSR, but then change the travel credit to account year and not calendar. Major reason I’m going to get one this morning to double it up quickly.

I see changes coming though be chase changed sapphire to every 4yrs for welcome bonus.

Yup, Amex may loosen up but it will only be temporary and then fall in line with diminished benefits/gaming.

Really the only thing that can stop that trend on the macro level is an economic slowdown but no one wants to wish for that on anybody.

You were saying?

Got the Amex Platinum and I have to say, the card is badass. I know, its only aesthetics, but the metal they use and overall look and feel compared to the CSR is a notch above. One thing I was disappointed in when I had the platinum about 4yrs ago.

Question for the board:

I'm a 24 year old engineer with decent income that just signed up for my first credit card 3 months ago. (CSR) I spent the 4k and got the 50000 reward. My question is should i continue to use this card or then jump to the next card to get the signup rewards? I pay my account down each time just trying to utilize my accounts the best for rewards (personal travel mostly) I believe this is called churning but will it damage my credit score?

Any advice?

Congrats on joining the hobby. It depends on your credit history and score. If you got the CSR I'm assuming its pretty good. If you start accumulating more cards I'd go Chase first since they have limits on the numbers 5/24. Start reading here

Did you sign up for Global Entry or Pre-check with the CSR? Interested in SW CP?

There are some very knowledgeable people who regularly chime in in this thread. The more you read the better position you will be in to make decisions.

Damn, can’t call the CSR exclusive if someone with no prior credit cards can get it from the word go.

Unless poster was on parents cards along the way to build credit.

The CSR is a great card and I wouldn’t churn it thanks the the new rules. No new signups for 48 months now.

Any chance the CSR bumps up from 50k to 60k or higher within the next month? I want to sign up and get it soon.

I don't think I've ever seen anything besides the initial 100k or the now 50k. And I would think if they were going to do it, it would have been within the past two months.

Yeah I’d be surprised if they do anymore than the current 50K.

As Teddy said, don’t think we’re going to see as many widespread offers greater than 50k until their is a downturn in the economy.

I’m currently working on Ink 80k and Amex Plat 60k.

After those may do the Chase Mileage Plus for 65k and Amex Gold for 50k

The CSP routinely has better offers than CSR so something to consider. My wife has CSR so I went with CSP with their better offer.

I've noticed this as well, and I don't really understand it. Why release what is supposed to be an apex luxury card and then push people to your older midlevel card?

Doesn't make sense to me either, especially when the annual fee is waived making it an even bigger spread.

Depending on if I keep my AMEX Gold I will get rid of the CSR and get the CSP. I’ll have to wait another year or so to hit their new BS 4 year rule between bonuses so I scoop another 50k bonus. But the 3 points on dining, $300 credit, and the 1.5c on the portal are why I have it. But 4 points for dining for the Gold, 1.25c on a portal I still haven’t used, and I can spend the $300 on my own make me think CSR may not stick in my wallet.
