Thanks to you both. It’s way too late for us to get out paying the yearly fee now. Come December my wife will get the 50,000 points and probably keep the card. If I’m allowed to (not sure since I will still have the CSR), I will get the points, transfer them to my CSR account then cancel.

So Chase isn't letting me move my Ink cash points to my Sapphire Reserve card.

Is this the changes ya'll are referring to?

I just applied for the CSR. I have a great credit score and they reviewed it. Called me a day later just to confirm my cell phone number and that was it. They approved me there. Kind of odd, but whatever. I got the CSR.

I just logged in and transferred points from my Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, and Ink Cash to my CSR, just to make sure I still could.

No clue why you're having a problem doing so.

Sorry in advance for some a trivial question-

About a year ago my wife got the Marriott chase rewards card and of course added me as a user.

I just got an email offering 100,000 points after $5,000 in spend and a free anniversary night. Would I be able to get this?

Yes. Your AU status on her card should not do anything to you.*

Unless that AU status puts you at 5/24 for a credit card that 5/24 rule applies to a credit card at Chase.

But in and of itself, no issue.

So I have the chase freedom and chase freedom unlimited. I’m interested in the chase United and chase sapphire. My question is do they typically waive the $95 annual fee after year one if you call and attempt to cancel?

Also, are you able to cancel after year one without being penalized?

If you want Chase United and Chase Sapphire, why not go Chase Sapphire Reserve?

Well, with the bonuses being the same most of the time and it being waived a lot for the first year with CSP, CSP is a better earn and cancel.

I can get United and CSP bonuses more than likely without paying a fee.

United also throws out 70k bonuses. Try to wait for something better than 50k +5k AU.

I applied for the 50k with 30k after 20k spend bonus (80k total) for CSP, no fee first year.

Also, pro tip for Chase bonuses. Even if they don't say you earn 5k points with AU purchase, add an AU anyways and have them buy something because you'll get it anyways. Wait some months and then remove them as AU.

Yes you can cancel after one year. What do you mean penalize?

All I can say is if you keep pushing the envelope then ya, eventually Chase may take notice of you, but you don't appear near that.

The penalty from canceling CSP for you would be you'd need to move those points to your Freedoms or you'll lose them, or to an airline. Once you cancel CSP you won't be able to transfer to airline and your points are potentially worth way more leveraged for award seats them using the Chase UR portal to buy tickets.

I don't think they particularly waive the fee for CSP, and if they do, it's case by case. If you spend a shite load on it then you may get it waived.

I always thought I had to wait between 18-24 months to cancel a new card without them revoking my bonus.

So you’re saying I can get the bonus withinthr three months and then cancel when they say I owe $95 for the annual fee? This is really what I’m getting at.

Yes, you can cancel at 12 months without bonus being revoked.

Some people do it earlier but I don't play with fire like that.

Does anyone think the Chase UR portal is total garbage? I have never had a smooth experience.

It's hit or miss. Sometimes it's fine; sometimes I get pissed off and get a human on the phone. Just depends.

After all this discussion, is there a consensus on the best card to earn points on everyday spending and bill pay to offset the cost of one or two vacations a year without all the gymnastics?

No, because every person's spending patterns and goals are different.
