Does it make sense to get a separate card for the wife, or get a card added to the existing account for $75/year?

If you can meet the minimum spend, different account is totally worth it with the $600 reimbursement in year 1. Plus another global entry. Since you'll have all the UR in the world maybe you can swing an international trip after all. Pre Check comes with GE so might as well just get that and be done with it.
But yeah for year 1 definitely get a separate account. Cancel one in year 2.

I haven't read, but I'm guessing that Reserve doesn't have the same benefits for an authorized user that Platinum does? Of course, the fee is a lot less, but platinum gives the PRE/Global to the authorized user and I believe the airfare credit?

It costs $175 which allows up to 3 AUs compared to $75 and doesn't come with airfare credit.
The AU gets lounge access, SPG/Hilton status and Global Entry though

Just FYI after reading this thread I called my banker to ask for the card bc most of my spending is dining and the 3x points blows the platinum amex out of the water, in the past they offered me the palladium card but I declined bc it was $600/year and the benefits were meh at best like 35,000 points after $100k spend. Anyways when I asked for the reserve he told me there's a JP morgan reserve for me since Im a client of the bank and he got me both so I can get the 100k bonus on both and then cancel the sapphire reserve card after. He said they dont advertise this card but its the jp morgan reserve card if you guys wanna ask your bankers for it, its not even on the chase website he said but its the same benefits of the sapphire reserve + more + an extra 100k points if you do both then cancel one. The fee is even the same.

Pretty sure you need >$10mil in assets with Chase to qualify for this card.
Additionally, the fee right now is being matched to the CSR but my end up going back up to $595 without $150 more in benefits

I have a nice bit of change but no I don't have north of $10m and actually that's why I'm getting downgraded in a few months from the JP Morgan private bank they raised their limits to $10m for next year. For now I'm still in but not for long, I will probably switch banks when it happens but for now good chance to get 200k points if you're part of their bank and get both cards

If you have 2 separate account for a husband/wife, can you combine points or do you just have to book rewards separately?

It's two seperate accounts, but you can transfer points between spouses.

Great. Now news is coming out that there will be a very competitive Chase SPG in Feb. And I'm sitting here at 32/24

any potential fallback from chase if we cancel the CSR before the next $450 fee?
this card seems like a no-brainer, otherwise

I imagine Amex will be out with some sort of competitor really soon as well for the platinum because their sign up bonuses and rewards are complete garbage. Even the black amex Ive gotten the application a couple years in a row and decline it because Im not paying $10,000 for the first year with their huge initiation fee. The benefits are ok, I imagine its wonderful if you're single and attempting to bang cocktail waitresses but otherwise its a joke for what the fees are.The amex lounges are nice but there are just so few of them and here in houston its in a terminal you never use unless you're going overseas. Amex has a lot of work to do to compete with either one of these reserve cards chase released. I just canceled me and my lady's amex cards when my reserve cards came in yesterday. Looking forward to whatever monster promotion amex releases soon to stop the exodus.
On another note the visa infinite rewards program Im on the website now, am I seeing this right 61 hotels in north america thats it? None of them in vegas? Im trying to book a trip there next week and I dont see any on the visa infinite rewards site. I have a nice promo from the wynn for $109/night and Im hoping to book on this new card and get an upgrade when I get in. I gamble quite a bit but all in the sports book so they dont comp rooms for me or anything.

I agree with you about AMEX. I never did get the platinum because the purchase benefits suck and I don't travel enough to justify the other benefits. I carried the PRG card but I'm thinking about cancelling that and just keeping thr Everyday preferred card from them.
As far as the visa infinite benefits I'm the wrong guy. I know only 3 cards are visa infinite in the US so it's very new for us. I would imagine they have more than 61 though because the visa signature program has more than that I believe unless you get access to both... I'm sure Amerikop has a better explanation on that.

You may need to look at the Chase Luxury Hotels & Resorts site as well as the Visa Infinite options. That's Chase's comparable program to AMEX FHR. If you've used FHR before, you'll probably be dissapointed by Chase's option. The perks are similar, but the prices and quality of hotels in AMEX FHR, seemed to be better.

Try the Visa Luxury Hotels and Benefits program. Usually you can get a much better deal otherwise but just for your reference.

Some dude on reddit went into a Chase branch and started talking to a churner Chase rep who told him that this card coming out in Feb will blow Hyatt card out of the water. Just word on the street as of now but I trust it. Once I am under 5/24 and I get this card, AmEx will have nothing that I want.
