I have no idea how to use these Delta points. No good direct flights and outrageous point total for round trips. Can I transfer these for a better value?
What route are you looking for? I can fly out of NYC to basically anywhere in Europe for the minimum first class award as long as my dates are somewhat flexible.

Not trying to break my point bank on 2 days by myself
Maybe if the wife was going along

Andaz is probably where I would stay. Best reviews.
Transfer to Flying Blue or Singapore. 60K RT to Hawaii. If you catch a good month for Flying Blue Promo awards, you can get to europe for 25K RT.
Also, using for 1.6c per point for AA flights is a decent enough use.

Thanks for the Ireland recommendations. Just booked from BOS to dub on aer lingus for 100,000 avios (2 tickets). That is for coach there and business back (12,500+37,500 each).
Now looking at getting between Ireland and Scotland. Will probably fly Aer Lingus (not sure I want to brave Ryan Air with international luggage). Also having to decide how well my manual transmission driving skills have survived the past 10 years (about half the cost).
Thanks again for the help

Glad to hear it! That's some great value you're getting. Try using avios for the short hop if it makes sense. Should be 4.5k each way. You could also do a road trip. I hear the countryside is beautiful. Hope you have a great time on your trip.

I hate the 5/24 rule I probably can't get the new Sapphire Elite card...
" The Sapphire Elite card will enter the market as a competitor to high end/premium travel cards like AMEX Plat and Citi Prestige. Expect an annual fee to match those cards or be in the same ballpark
The card will come with a 100k UR Point sign up bonus. Unclear on minimum spend needed to meet this requirement
Expect benefits to match AMEX Plat/Citi Prestige. Unclear on exact details
Exact earning structure unclear
Unclear if AF will be waived first year
Card will be launched on August 21st, 2016"

Wish this card came out last year
Also, I don't have 5/24 room for it right now anyways

Wonder if CSP cardholders would be eligible for that 100k bonus for opening the new card. And damn, if that 1st annual fee is waived that is the deal of a lifetime

It's totally different products so you should be eligible. However, I don't expect that any current CSP cardholder could upgrade and receive the bonus. Also...anticipate a high minimum spend requirement.

Will be interesting, I wonder if they start with a promo to get people to the card with a low minimum spend

What is the 5/24 rule? I currently have the CSP

So you think it would require opening the new Elite/Reserve Chase Sapphire card in addition to keeping the CSP open?
Honestly I'd be fine with paying the $95 annual fee and $300-$400 annual fee on the new one if it meant getting $1,250 worth of travel as a bonus on the new card.

Others can give you the specifics but my understanding is that Chase (maybe others) will not approve a new card for individuals who have opened 5 new cards in the previous 24 months.
I believe the CSP this year was my 4th in the past 2 years, so I should be in the clear to open the new card they launch next month, pending their spending requirements. $4,000 in the first 3 months seemed like a lot but we knocked it out with some unexpected purchases. Are there higher spending requirements to get the bonus pts on other cards such as Amex?

I think he meant you can't upgrade your CSP AND get the signing bonus.
They are different products so you shouldn't be DQ'd from getting singup on new CSP whether or not you have a CSP already

I've got the gold delta amex.. Yeah I know bash away. Amex is offering 25,000 miles if I upgrade to the platinum card. But the current first time sign up offer for the platinum card is 35,000 miles and 5,000 MQMs. I'm a good member. Would I be able to call Amex and get them to sign me up for the better sign up deal if I upgrade?
Posted on 7/26/16 at 3:34 pm to Jtigers99
Just do the upgrade, you won't get a credit check. No hard pull. That's what I did
