That is why. You should call and reduce all your credit lines across cards to the minimum that you need. If you get denied, call chase and tell them you are open to moving some credit line around to open the new card. They will do it.

Good new and bad news...

Called Chase up, and decreased the credit limit from one card to get this pending card, but just realized I applied for the IHG 70k offer, not the United. Bummer and total brain fart.

For reference their number is 1-888-245-0625 and somebody answers immediately. Much more helpful vs going through the front-line customer service web of transfers who just try to get you to hang up. Seriously, I called the general customer service hotline and was told "we're backed up, so you'll just have to wait and see" originally. Crazy. Yes, chase is too backed up to deal with customers...

I guess the good news is I thought I was only getting the 30k miles and now the 50k is available so I can try that. Just don't know how soon is too soon.

Also, is there anyway to get the 70k offer without being specifically targeted? That would be pretty sweet.

got a Delta offer in the mail for 60,000 points + 10,000MQMs if I sign up for the Platinum card. I don't fly very often, but will probably take a few vacations in 2017. Is that 60k offer a good one? $195 annual

Yes, it's worth it, you get a yearly companion ticket with the platinum and free bags, pays for itself.

It never goes higher than 60k

WHAT is MQM???

The airlines have moved to revenue based elite programs, where those who spend the most are rewarded the most. MQMs are their way to track your spending and award status accordingly.

Not true, you can if you spend $240k on 4 separate Delta reserve cards.

You are confusing MQMs with MQDs. MQM's are still based on miles flown

I got a 60K bump when I upgraded last year. I'm hoping to use some of those miles later this year for a vacation. I have almost 200K in Delta miles at the moment.

Still shows up on credit report as an opened account.

Sucks, he did it to give me his credit history not realizing that AMEX stopped that only a month or so previous. Turns out, I didn't need it anyways

I misread Delta's stuff then. They try and make it harder to earn Diamond by spending and signup bonuses I guess then.

Diamond is honestly the greatest thing ever. My dad was a diamond member and would exclusively book coach flights as his upgrade rate was near 100% for most flights. Downside is to earn diamond your life sucks. My father averaged >1 flight leg per day that year

Infact, Delta is the only airline that lets you get any status solely through credit card spend. Granted its not easy, but possible. Need to MS the heck out of Delta cards with a partner and you end up with tons of miles and top tier status, and 2nd to top tier for partner.

I need 5000 ultimate rewards or southwest points for our October trip. What is the quickest way for me to obtain without applying for a new card?

I have ink cash, csp, freedom unlimited, ihg, and hyatt.

I have 33k ur points at the moment but need 38k for flights. Even though its not until October we are wanting to book our flights as soon as possible.

We are flying from dal to slc, southwest. Staying 4 nights using ihg points. Then flying from slc to las. Driving to grand canyon and staying 1 night using ihg points. Finishing up staying at the bellagio using our 2 free hyatt nights. Flying from las back to dal.

Im thinking i need to buy $1000 of something at an office store

A really easy way to earn some points is to buy flowers from 1800 Flowers using the RR Promo

$29.99 gets you 1000 points. You get to buy your wife flowers looking awesome while also getting some points

He should let me transfer $5k to him for $150 instead of giving them $150

Takes a while for points to post sometimes. Definitely not an option I would use to get points on a time limit.

But if you did go 1800Flowers way, don't forget to stack using either amex offers that gives $15 back on orders of $50 or more, or buy GCs from one of the websites which are often upto 50% off.
