Depends on how you use it. Do you transfer your points to partner programs, or do you just use the points for travel straight up?

I usually use the points on the sapphire straight up. i go to their reward program website and look up tickets and the tickets price are in line with other prices on sites like Expedia and Travelocity
not sure how the point transfer work out

That is just about the worst possible way to use those points.

At least he's getting the 20% bonus. He could be using them for a statement credit

Sounds like you'd be best served by something simple like a Citi Double Cash.

Got my United approval
Now I'm just hoping this CC shows up at the right place. Guess I'll give them a call.

Is the Sapphire Preferred currently giving a referral bonus? I'll be in the market soon. I'll trade someone for an Ink+ bonus if they are in the market

I just received my Ink business card but was not approved for the United business that I applied for on the same day. Letter states that "business too new and Insufficient history of credit information is reported". The Ink had the same info on application. Not sure what to do next but I would like at least one more card mostly for the bonus. I have the IHG, Sapphire preferred and the Ink business at this time. Only planning to fly once this year and once next this year at the present time. Looking for recommendations of the best card to get for bonus. Planning a few road trips in the next few years and would lke to maximize hotel rewards but still be able to use for flights and rental cars. Would like to hear from different posters to get ideas from other travelers. Also not sure if I should call for reconsideration of United business card. Please give me your thoughts.

Chase isn't going to do two business cards at once. You can get away with a personal and a business in the same day.

Can you or anyone please explain why or what's a better way to use these points?
Thanks in advance

Of course. With Sapphire Preferred you can transfer points into miles for various airlines in your miles bucket with that airline. Then you can get a better redemption than 1.2 cents per point which is what you're getting buying tickets through the UR portal.
For instance a ticket to Miami from Dulles will cost me between $250-$350 depending on when I buy the ticket. By transferring 15000 points to British Air I can get a round trip ticket for 15000 Avios. That $250-$350 ticket then effectively costs me $150 in points. I can get upwards of 2.5 cents per point on redemption by doing this. That's for a coach flight. If you travel on an international flight in business class you can get even greater value for your points.

I will say that I've found the valuations for those of us who don't generally fly out of hubs to be less lucrative. I almost exclusively use my UR points with Hyatt (and Amtrak before they split) because the valuation is shite out of Baton Rouge, and it's not worth my time to drag arse to New Orleans.

That's a fair point. I'm 5 minutes from Dulles and that helps.

awesome
thanks
so for that, i need to have a milage account for that airline? is that correct?
right now, i don't have a preference for an airline, i go with any airline that gives me a cheap ticket.

Same. No real reason to unless someone else is footing the bill or you're chasing status. If you ever need help with a specific destination, ask here and I am sure many will help.

Just have to be a little flexible and book far out. I will say 50-60% of the time I can find a flight out of BTR.

My dates are usually very inflexible and I can't book all that far out, so that could be my issue
