I'm sure one of these days I will spend (miles) to fly Cathay F. I don't really see myself spending the kinda miles on any of the American carriers.

Also business seats will be a little more close together. First usually closes up to give you your own little compartment/pod.

Unless you're flying in an A380. Then things change.

Don't know if this is the right thread but LOT business class (lie flats) from Chicago/JFK to Geneva/Zurich/Amsterdam for ~$1,950 all of summer. 125% mileage accrual on UA, 100% Premier Qualifying (~10,500 redeemable miles). Hmm..

I have and still find it a decent value, but it's incredible(and sad) the difference in the soft product from many of the foreign competitors. Night & day.

I've only flown Thai Airways A380 business. It's just an impressive aircraft. Damn shame it seems that their days are numbered though.

Thai Biz class:

If I understand correctly - You are not a fan of Cathay soft product? Compared to Singapore/Etihad? Ever had the chance to fly F or J in a dreamliner?

Oh no...it's been great in my experience. I've never flown F in Cathay though. I just can't see my JAL F experiences being topped. Equal sure, but hard top do much better. They've been near perfect.

I'd like to book Cathay F before the devaluation, but I just can't do last minute bookings to snag a F seat and I've found it difficult to procure 2 seats in F on many of the CX routes from US to HKG in advance.

I flew J in a 787 on a redeye from NRT to BKK. Slept for 6 of the 7 hours, so I think it was good .
I've flown coach on United's 787 from DEN-NRT, but that's been my only experiences on a dreamliner.

Wow, didn't realize how drastic the difference between first and business was. I guess when you fly international in economy, any upgrade would be nice.

Thai's business class from ICN and PVG are weird angled giant recliners. Not the most comfortable but I still went into a coma.

The shortest flight I took from HKT to BKK with them had the business class like the pic above. Made no sense to me.

If it was something I just had to do I guess I could fork over $200 to an award booking service but then I'd feel I didn't snag the "deal." Even though you'd still be 3,000 dollars ahead. Maybe it's my pride getting in the way.

I had that on Air Tahiti Nui's business class. I agree it's weird. I did some shifting around trying to figure out the best way to attack sleeping on it, but like you, ended up snoozing for several hours.

Yeah, I've contemplated that before. I think it is a pride thing .

I don't pay for Expert flyer, so I'm sure I'd miss out on opportunities, but my wife likes a game plan. She'd start the eye rolling if I were to start making schedule changes in the last week. She really wouldn't understand(care) that I wanted to try Cathay F so we are now missing a day in XYZ and spending an extra day in ABC so I can try the CX F product.

Oh and we took the Airport Express for the first time when we went through BKK last time since we were arriving at rush hour morning traffic. Super easy if staying on Sukhumvit and you aren't lugging around too much luggage. I think it was about 80 baht or so to our stop on Sukhumvit including the transfer to the BTS.

It depends on the airline and plane. The images I posted were Club World which is British Airways business class. Basically the exact same seats as their first class but a little more crowded. With the pods and the ability to slide the glass up I didn't notice the difference.

Just made 2 round trips from Houston to Cape Town in BA club world. Fantastic. I normally fly united on long hauls but I switched it up this time. Very happy I did.

Except now I'm gold status on BA and not exactly sure how to leverage that living in the states.

Definitely. There are only a handful of airlines doing true first class and even then they only do it on certain aircrafts/routes. And some business class hard products rival other first class products.

I've used the free version a little bit. I could see myself buying a one off $5 month or something to get an award booked. Of course, I'd also probably spend that month finally figuring out how to use it properly.

Sounds like I'll just stay in Sukhumvit every time.

I probably need to get my wife a rolly suitcase. We both have big backpacks we use for trips. While they keep you from overpacking, my wife managed to stuff enough in hers to hurt her back

That means you are oneworld Emerald (top tier) now. Gives you first and business class lounge access, priority check in and better seats (closer to the front on coach, exit row seating, economy+ in some rare occasions). Not a whole lot. Maybe you could status challenge on AA. And I'm pretty sure Alaska will match you to MVP 75K. Maybe even try United and Delta.

I pay for ExpertFlyer. Imo, it is the easiest and most convenient way to find award seats bar none. There are ways around it for sure, but I just got tired of all the different accounts and search engines and then still coming out with nothing. Additionally, some airlines still don't show up on any search engines (TN?). I finally gave up and bought it.

What does an award booking service really do for $200 that you and I can't do? As I had mentioned somewhere earlier, I am trying to set up a website and offer totally FREE award booking service for beginners. I believe I can book pretty much any award. Am I missing something?

Nothing really.
The only advantage would be having someone else monitoring it for you. If I was hell bent on flying a certain product, I'd just suck it up and pay for expertflyer and set all the alerts rather than pay a booking service.

Oh yeah and I asked and not sure if I received a response, but how did you stumble upon this site?

EExpertFlyer does that! Why pay $200 for a service when you can get that for $99 pa?

Friend of mine is an avid TD lurker (we're both recent LSU grads). He showed me this thread when someone asked what to do with 400K UR. I couldn't help myself so I gave a long response in the hopes that they don't redeem them at 1.25c/point. The thought itself is painful for me haha.

BTW - How far out did you book your business award to PPT? Did you use AA or FB? As far as I know TN is very stingy with I. I can almost always find W.

LINK - No availability May-September.

First month I can find two available I seats is in early October.

So my 120k Avios are gonna get devalued next week - I am rushing to book domestic flights for the year.

Just passed my 3k in spending on the citi prestige so that bonus 50k AA miles should be inbound. Now it's time to save up for my trip to Italy in December.

Just a reminder that Feb 2 is the last day for short haul avios trips before they go up.

Unfortunately, there ain't shite within a 650 mile radius of Denver.

Points from Citi Prestige (City ThankYou Points) do not transfer to AA. Unless you mean using them @1.66c for statement credit for AA flights.

Not too worried about deval. My favorite uses for BA miles were 12.5K one way to West Coast-HI or BOS-DUB. Did like 9K rt to Caribbean destinations but I have the Companion Pass now
