I read the fine print twice just looking for the catch. Figured I'd see it mentioned on the blogs, but strangely it seems to be a limited targeted offer.

Well now I'm a lil upset. I've been waiting patiently for an Amex Platinum 100k offer to show up (I've put a ton on my PRG in the year I've had it). I decided to check out targeted offers in mine and my wife's name. She's got a 100k offer - oddly in her maiden name. Which would be great except to get one in my name is an extra $175/year.

Very good.
I called today too but after 10 minutes of going nowhere with an incompetent rep, I just said F it and I'll wait until tomorrow to see if it posts.

Citi declined my credit card deposit for fraud. Hah. I had to resubmit.

Did you get an email or anything telling you that happened?

I don't think they processed me today.

When you called I assume that was it and you didn't have to call the CC department first to OK the big charge?

From what I understand you get 2 chances at this so don't want to waste #2.

I got an email and a text from Citi credit card. Not the bank department. I had to get the CC side to lift the fraud hold and approve the large charge. They then sent me to the bank side for reprocessing and was told about the "only 2 attempts" clause. He told me I should see it Monday morning. Dunno.

Thanks for the update. I'll be on the lookout for that.

I must be old thinking this is fun.

Think I may pull the trigger on the Citi Prestige. AA award travel isn't looking great for when I want to go to NOLA right now (that could changer closer to) but am I right to think the 50,000 TY points that = $800 in AA travel is not points and it's like booking with cash? Anyone have access to the thankyou.com website and can look up fares for me?

I looked on AA.com and it is $830 rt for HNL to MSY from Dec 15-Jan 5. So I'm wondering if that's the same on TY.com? Any help would be appreciated. Plus I get the $250 this year to spend and right again in January.

Ya using the TY points for American is like booking with cash at 1.6 cents per point if you have Prestige.

From my reading sometimes the TY site mirrors the market price and sometimes it does not.

With a Prestige that flight should be about 55,000 points on American.

Thanks for putting that up

So the Prestige "changes" the value or something? What if I have 50,000 points, I wonder if I can pay the extra $$ since it's over $800 on there? Use some of that $250 I get with the card.

I see, so the Prestige gives 1.6 and the regular ones give 1 per I guess.. still wonder if I can pay for the extra. It's worth it for me since I have plenty of AA miles but the awards are dog shite for those dates. I can get to NOLA on the 11th for 17,500 but right now it's 50k minimum to come back early Jan. And I was looking to go in later Dec than the 11th but could go early.

LINK

Gives the values in the first paragraph or so.

You can do "cash and points" with TY points if you wanted in a variety of different point and cash amounts IIRC

$10k went from pending to posted this morning.

Funny thing is, I still can't see my actual balance on my Citigold log in.

I received my debit card and hit the "link" link on the Citigold log in page, but it asks for my bank account number which I don't have yet.

I suppose I have to wait for my checks to arrive to see my bank account number and then do the linking. Or call.

Nevermind, just got all the info in the mail

Is there a link that drains the citi gold bonus points. Is there a time requirement for when you get the card to when you can earn the points? I don't have a citi card yet, but am about to get the citi aa card.

Don't know what you mean by this.

By "card" I suppose to mean from when you open the checking account. You have two months (I think Calendar) to make $1000 in debit transactions and you have to make 1 or more eligible bill pays in each of the first two months.

I've already set up my bill pays to go off for this month and next (and did more than 1 to be safe).

Will start working on the debit transactions shortly. I can do that in two purchases.

That's good to know. I went ahead and pulled the trigger last night, got all happy to be applying for a new card and then it came back declined

I called to day and the guy said it was still in process and he didn't know why it told me no on the website application. About 2 minutes later he was telling me I'm approved for $26k

Now I gotta spend the $3k quickly so I can potentially book this AA flight in 2 months. Looks like I'll be getting that bigger TV I wanted

Ok, I got you. I missed a page in this thread and didn't not see the links that were already posted. So you are setting the max advance to keep the entire amount from being an advance? How did they code for yalls deposit?

I just set it to the minimum allowed to be safe. All reports online stated it would go through as a purchase but IT systems and processes can change overnight.

It coded as a purchase for me (used Citi AA). As you may have read, many cards will code as a cash advance.
