I have reached out to a person that advertises his condo on Craigslist. Much cheaper than other sites. Is that safe to do? Scams?

For rent or to buy? It’s basically the newspaper classified ad of the 21st century. Might find a great deal. Not inherently scammy, but Craigslist tends to attract scammers.

Make sure if he is subleasing it, that it’s kosher with the owner.

If they ask for anything other than a credit card number, it is 100% fraud.
Otherwise, it is only a 50% chance it is fraud.
Are you talking about a vacation condo or a residential lease for 12 months?

If you can sift through he scams, yes. The owner saves money by not having you book through a site not run by the management company

I have a vacation rental I advertise on craigslist. I'm always shocked how easily people send money without a thought of it maybe being a scam.

Craigslist is mostly a very reputable source for rental transactions. Just take the usual precautions, dealing with internet strangers.

The new scam I heard about is they'll collect a deposit or application fee from a prospective tenant, then you never hear from them again and find out they aren't the property owner.
Check public records to confirm the person you're responding to on CL is actually the property owner.
