Yea it was last week. Bought in again for 166 shares at $13.95 this morning. It's 50/50 at this point. Well..maybe I should be getting 3-1 odds here. They need some major asset sales quick!

silver lining: you're only done 2% so far today on that purchase.

ETA: well maybe closer to 3% with your trade commisions.

ETA2: but don't feel too bad. I'm down over 50% from a purchase a few months ago... worst investment since my wife :rimshot:

I'd be up in this and JPM now if I had the funds.

Have a little extra funds, but feel it might be unwise to lose my career and a couple extra grand if shite hits the fan.

Nothing wrong with buying own company stock unless you have material inside information. Most of those people are flagged...either via formal "blackout periods" or a not so formal list of people...can be subjective.

Bought more today at $14.25 when it was down over 4%...still accumulating....450 shares and counting....I think there is much money to be made here...even in the short term.

I am looking at jumping in soon. Was wanting it to go down another dollar, but don't see that happening.

My cost basis is $14.80 for the 450 shares I gobbled since starting the post. I just wish I would have put some more $$$$$ on it....but gambling is gambling....and IT WAS GAMBLING.

But yea...looking safe right now....at least it's not going to $10 anytime soon like many have been saying....

CHK closed at 16.90 today. Got in at 16.04 a little after it started to make a run. I know ByDaBook is buying him a new flat screen soon.

I wish I had the money to invest in them. If they survive the stock will go threw the roof.

Up almost 5% today, of course a lot is up today.

This bit of news has to have already been built into the price though...

quote:

NEW YORK -- A close ally to activist investor Carl Icahn will join Chesapeake Energy Corp.'s board this week as it struggles to overcome huge debts and criticism of its corporate leadership.

Published reports say that Icahn has tapped veteran energy executive Vincent Intrieri to join Chesapeake's board. Icahn, who owns 7.6 percent of the Oklahoma City natural gas producer, has been pushing for a shakeup within the company's leadership.

Icahn and other investors are concerned about the amount of debt Chesapeake amassed while buying up land. The company plans to sell $14 billion in assets this year to help pay off its debts. Yet it continues to spend aggressively _ it increased its budget by $1 billion this year to $12.6 billion in all _ even though less money is coming in due to a plunge in natural gas prices.

Bought at 18.09 a little over a week ago. Plan on holding it for some time.
