re: CFA: TEST OVER. Results in...

I approached L2 like that, but my equity stuff was not as sharp as it should have been and I didn't ace that section. If I had I have no doubt I would have passed. The work I do now is really equity valuation heavy (although we do fixed income stuff, AI, and a tiny amount of derivative fair value stuff as well), so I'm fairly confident I'll be able to slay that this time around. I just don't want to be complacent about the rest of the test, you still can't bomb all of it.

Just took a practice level 1 from Schweser and got a 69%.

A = L + E, its just accounting brah.

I really should be on the practice tests right now but this damn thing called fun keeps getting in the way. Thankfully I'm in a pretty good spot to be fully prepared by test time.

@Greg, I got through all the material and spent the past 3 or 4 days reviewing just financial reporting and analysis because of it's weight. (first thing I studied was this material so I started with it and finished with it before I start reviewing and practice testing)

2 weeks out guys...how's everyone doing?
I've remedied my Financial Reporting and woe's for the most part so my next practice test should be much improved.
Anyone sweating bullets out there?

Went offshore fishing this weekend.
Still failing, but ROL is high.

I am feeling less and less confident. I am in a job where the CFA doesn't really pertain to me, I am newly single, and I enjoy drinking too much. I will attend the test, but I am not feeling good about my chances. I have been regularly getting about 90% on ethics, but the other sections I am way behind on. haha

The hardest thing (mentally) about the CFA is that that it is not the CPA, and you ultimately are not required to have it to succeed.

Consistently scoring mid-70s on the practice exams. I feel like that's pretty decent given my schedule but would like to have that in the 80s.

Close to zero percent of my job is applicable to the CFA...which makes it a bit tougher to study for.

I'm cruising at 69-71%.. Should be interesting.

I've received different opinions and realize its a sliding scale but if you had to pick a number, which percentage of correct answers do you think would fall into "very high chance of passing" territory (for Level 1)?

They say nobody has ever failed with 70% correct.

This. Like I said, if I was doing a job where people even knew about this I would be more motivated. I work in a finance/acct department of a non financial company. Noone here has any clue what CFA is and I really like it here. I started it while in college so at the time it was a good idea. Now its sorta meh.

Ok that makes me feel better, particularly considering I'm tracking 90%+ on Ethics. My one remaining concern is that these Schweser practice exam questions are easier than the actual exam questions so as to inflate my tracking scores a bit.

It was more like this for me last year. Obviously accounting is on the test and I was doing valuations, but my boss really was more of a litigation expert than a valuation expert, so we didn't do a ton of valuations, the ones we did were pretty simplistic, and they pretty much disappeared altogether during busy season. That definitely makes it harder to retain stuff, no doubt. Now that I sit here and do equity valuation all day with the occasional bond valuation and plenty of alternative asset valuation mixed in, its definitely a lot easier to remember a lot of that stuff. This is going to sound straight ruhtard to anyone not in this thread, but its definitely easier the second time around on L2 (not that I was terribly far off the first time). That being said, I've probably devoted 30 or 40 hours to studying thus far, I haven't gotten through all of the material again yet, I have barely done any problems, and even though 80-90% of the people above me have either tried to or passed this stupid thing (along with every other analyst here concurrently taking either 1, 2, or 3), they're just hammering us at work. So its nice that the work flows directly into it, but its not nice when the workload goes from 40 hours a week to 75. I'm taking the entire week off though, I think I can still pull it out.
eta: Looking forward to the end of this [again], but the facebook threads are a close second behind it. Please make it stop.

Is there any prep material that doesn't under prepare like Schwesser? Who's content is just as good.
Also too, why not try to get a high 'score' on the exam?
