Which do you prefe for credit card rewards? I currently have aCC for miles but may switch to cash back. Plan to Use the cash to invest in an etf or other housing expenses. Don’t fly more than 2-4 times a year. Thoughts?

If you don’t fly often, one of the 3% cash back cards seems like a no brainer. I fly 4-5 times a year and love my miles for international flights to get business class. I also use my Hilton Amex points frequently for rooms. Just depends on your lifestyle.

I fly a similar amount and for everyday spend I prefer the cash back. I have some travel reward cards but generally only sign up for the bonus. Even then I find I have trouble using the travel rewards.

The Fidelity Visa is a good 2% cash back card and even reimburses Global Entry now without an annual fee. I also have Discover, Chase Freedom, and Amex Blue Cash Preferred for their specific bonus categories, but if you don’t want to keep up with all that the Fidelity Visa is a good all-around cash back choice.

I have two CCs with Wells Fargo, the Visa Signature (which isn't accepting new applicants right now) and the Visa Active Cash. Signature offers a point system that carries a 50% discount on travel, and Active Cash is 2% cashback on basically all purchases. WF makes it easy to transfer rewards between the two cards, so I essentially get 4% travel rewards. My wife and I put around $7K/mo on our cards, so that's basically $300 we can use for travel each month without any changes to our usual spending/saving habits.

I haven't actually redeemed any rewards for travel yet so I'm sure there's a catch somewhere. But a nice lil perk nonetheless. Frankly I kinda stumbled into by sheer dumb luck.
