Was backed into by a guy in a F250 worktruck. Got 2 quotes, $4500 & $5500 for repair. $1250 to have my car detailed and ceramic coated again. Figured ~$750 for a rental car during repairs. Agreed to $7000 settlement. That was 2 weeks ago, their lawyer hasnt sent over paperwork, told me EOD yesterday, no go. Now I feel like im being run around.

What would you do? Im mad at this point, I tried to do this without getting a lawyer involved and suing the guy. Now I feel like ive been taken advantage of and am being screwed with.

Sounds like you need to do what you need to do on the repairs. Check is probably coming your way

Stop using their lawyer and start using their insurance company.

Was there a police report? It should be listed there

Why is a lawyer involved in the claim if you haven’t sued the guy or claiming injuries? Should be getting handled by the desk adjuster for his insurance company

Call or email whoever was supposed to be sending you paperwork. Tell them they missed their deadline and that you’re giving them until the end of this week to have everything buttoned up and to send you a tracking number for a check being sent via overnight delivery or your first call next Monday is to an attorney.

Just ask the lawyer. It’s highly likely the check will get to you this week. Lawyers always think they move faster than they actually can. No lawyer is going to agree to settlement and then not follow through…too much downside to save 7k.

If the lawyer hasn't sent the OP the paperwork/release form to be signed in two weeks. Getting a check this week sounds highly unlikely

You say it was a "work truck" but was it a company owned vehicle? Why are you talking to a lawyer instead of their insurance company?

There should be no "agreement" of dollar amounts at this phase, only that they have accepted liability and will restore your vehicle to pre-crash condition. Hidden damage and supplemental claims are part of the process.
